Ah, playing the inside straight? I like it.

I guess sure anything is possible. Maybe the playcalling with the 2nd/3rd unit is more like what the real offense will look like?

I think this offense could be very good with an infusion of zone-read.

Okay lets try this then. Since I can't argue all the behind the scenes speculations.

Would you agree that its fair to say that however Griffin feels about read-option he will run in fact do it? As evidenced but him actually running read option in 2013 less then 8 months after reconstructive knee surgery?

Yes I agree 100 percent that he ran it,I never said he didnt,my point never was that he didnt run it,but that he did not want to.

When your chip stack has been blinded dry and you keep drawing 7 2 offsuit in the hole, you cling to the hope of making a straight from a 9 5 offsuit.

Such is the plight of the longtime Skins fan.

RG3 didnt really need pocket presence in 2012.

The Shannys did a great job of tailoring an offense to him. The RO, calling pass plays that didnt rely on anticipation and timing, roll outs, having RG3 only read one half of a field (if they asked him to go through reads at all) .. rg3's first reads were almost always open, especially on PA.

2012 was so ... 2012. in 2015, rg3 is what he is.

and RG3 did make it known he didnt want to be a running QB after 2012. Its been pretty much confirmed he wrote on a board what plays he wouldnt run. he said rodgers and manning arent asked to run ... he sd he is a thrower etc ... he sd he would do some RO

i dont know what the argument is.

i hope its not about 2012. that was 3 years ago and that rg3 is never coming back as decided by his injuries and rgII and rgIII.

Rookies at the Top

If I gave everyone reading this a chance to guess the two most accurate quarterbacks under pressure, I’d bet a very small percentage would have come back with the right answer. Robert Griffin III and Ryan Tannehill are currently first and second, respectively, in Accuracy Percentage under pressure.

https://www.profootballfocus.com/blo...nder-pressure/

I know there is a lot of Griffin burying going on. I considered him buried a long time ago. But we gotta at least be accurate when burying the guy. Maybe it easier on some people to forget who good he was but to act like he lacked pocket presence in 2012 is going too far. Griffin stepped up, slide, side-stepped, scrambled and made plays. People are acting as if being under siege in the Lions preseason is the sum of his pocket presence. Its classic prisoner of the moment over reaction.

Also in case people are going attribute 2012 all to play action(pistol offense). Here are Griff's numbers without any play-action at all (drop back passing):

192/230--8 TDs--1 INT---66 comp%--1094 YDs-QB rating or 93.

Griffin wouldn't even need to run for a lot of yards to be effective in zone-read. The Eagles have imo one of the best offenses in the league (i know, i know everyone here hates Kelly) and their QBs don't run for a ton of yards.

I think Griffin can become a rhythm drop back passer, I don't think WCO is the best fit for him because he's more of power thrower then a finesse thrower and I have even more doubts that Jay is the guy to turn him into a drop back passer.

I have no idea what Jay is trying to do this year. He hasn't shown anything with the 1st string offense. Its been the definition of vanilla. 1st down under center vanilla. But the 2nd-3rd unit playcalling has been more creative. Personally I don't understand nor agree with his approach to the preseason with the first unit.
But different coaches have different approaches to preseason.
Good post BUT
You can throw all the 2012 stats out the window. Its the 2013-14 years that Griff has not looked good in the dropback role.He continuously shows a lack of pocket presence, doesnt get the ball out in time, footwork is horrible, etc.
he's never been the same since coming back from the knee.

I wanted Shanahan gone after the 3rd yr,then we drafted Bob and Shanny ran an offense that fit Bob's skill set perfectly,I give him props for that. But I never thought he was a great coach, and I BLAME HIM ENTIRELY FOR BOB'S INJURY.I wonder how Griff would be now if he wouldnt have have sustained that knee injury.

See this is exactly what I'm talking about. Despite ACTUALLY BEING SHOWN ON FILM you're going off what Mike Shanahan said. SMH I don't know what to say. Its a no win situation. Lol, his dad.

I would like to see these numerous college reports saying Griffin lacks pocket presence.

What did the pistol due to mask Griffin's lack of pocket presence.

He did not. He does not. He will not. Your stats about drop back passing in 2012 are skewed. He did not get rushed that much because they still feared the run. They do not anymore.

Exactly, he just isn't the same guy anymore. Face it, we need to hope for a miracle for him to get it together just for the sake of him not getting destroyed on the field

I would trade Griffin right now for a halfway decent tight end and a 3rd rounder.

I would trade Griffin now for whatever we could get..I am not sure there is a team in the NFL the he could be the number 2 QB for..who would it be??..who wants the drama and the injuries..you have to figure that into it. Right now if Rglll was cut outright and we were not on the hook for his salary the Redskins would be in a much better place ..
