Re: simeon rice

Can he play Daniels side? If we cut Daniels, would he play for Daniels pay. Or for that matter Wynn's pay? What do you all think.

I think that if we sign him, half the people here will hate it while the other half will love it.

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

Re: simeon rice

Sign him, anything that could help our D unit would be appreciated. I know GW could find some packages to put this vet in. I would much rather have him playing with us than against us to be honest.

Gee Wiz people...first you cry foul that we didn't draft a DE or DL. Then you cry foul that we did not look to free agency for a DE or DL. Now one comes along and we start acting all wishy washy? I say sign him up! Houshimazoli, Chamionship! Atleast you can be sure of one thing...he will be ready to play Tampa Bay. and since the bucs/Redskins games are becoming a good rivalry similar to Dallas it would be nice to have him to help slam the door on another NFC team.

He'd never sign for the vet minimum. He's not crazy. He turned down a multi-million dollar contract and will sign for big bucks somewhere else if not with us. He's still better than anyone we have on the DL (unless Griffin steps up) and all of our CB's but Springs.

A lot of people don't have much faith in Daniels, but he played ok last year, he just wasn't healthy for much of it. He plays hard & is a better run stopper than Rice I bet.
Plus he's a team leader. I'm not ready to give up on him just yet, though I realize at 34 we can't expect too much.

No way Daniels and/or Wynn can play with Rice. He's worth twice what they are, times two.

Re: simeon rice

I would just like to point out that while I think that he would be a good addition, we cant afford him. We still havent signed LL, and people are already worried about a deal with Cooley. So would the production that we would gain by adding him be worth the headache and or heartache come time to get a deal done with Cooley.

Re: simeon rice

One thing we have come to know is that Snyder does know how to handle that salary cap.
I say sign him and sign him now.
He had 14 sacks in 05, 12.5 in 04, 14.5 in 03, 16 in 02.

He's only 33. He still has a couple good years left in the tank, and he would INSTANTLY be the best DE we have.
As long as he is fully recovered from last years injuries, I say go for it.
I don't think he'll be too expensive.

Re: simeon rice

If he's damaged goods, what's the point? We need youth-wait til next year when we've got some picks and some cap to use (unless we're in "CAP HELL"--haven't said that in a while! )

I think we all agree with you if he's still hurt.

The cap isn't an issue this year.

I would sign him and try to put as many performance based incentives as possible. The guy isn't going to sign for the minimum and he shouldn't have to.

He wouldn't be an every down guy for us but I seem to remember us struggling on 3rd down last year and he would be perfect in that role.

Any depth on the D-line is a good idea.

Re: simeon rice

Lenny P was on Mike & Mike this morning and said that if healthy he won't have a problem finding a team and he mentioned the Skins as a possibility. I believe it's pure speculation on his part at this point, and he also added Detroit as a possibility.
