Re: The Case For...
Honestly I surprised so few are making the case for a stud @ OLB... i mean there's some serious talent out there this off-season and we're in all probability gonna have to address this as a need unless Blache believes Blades is a starter.

Re: The Case For...
I'm falling for Suggs
![]() ... but there's a pretty impressive short-list w/ Dansby, Hill (who's sort of a knucklehead but still very good), and Vilma all guys who could come in and be a force on opening day. I like Suggs because IMO he hails from a similar division in terms of toughness, prior to this year he was a hell of a rusher (at least 8 sacks a year) and he's a big monster to punish backs like Jacobs and Barber in our division. I think he'd easily be the playmaker we tend to lack among the front seven and guarantee we remain a top 5 defense.

SUGGS... The guy is an absolute beast who can play olb or d end. He has explosivness, stregnth, and a nose for the ball. He is only 26 or 27 as well, thats 7-8 years younger than all our starting ends.

Re: The Case For...
Suggs would play SLB for us and we'd probably see far more pressure put on QBs than in the past... Marcus was pretty good at this before he slowed down but never at the level Suggs plays. And yes if we have an injury at end we could easily drop him to the LOS and bring in Blades IMO. Suggs is mr. versatility in this year's FA market.

Re: The Case For...
Dansby and Vilma are both good players in their own rights, but they are more along the lines of M. Washington when he played for indy. Very close to the top tier lbs but not breaking into that elite class. Suggs is in that elite class who has the intangeibles that put him at a higher level than the other 2. As you said Goat, he is the class of the fa this year..

Re: The Case For...
goes w/o saying
![]() honestly, i doubt Suggs leaves Baltimore though. Lewis will get his payday and Suggs will stay behind and be the "face" of the D w/ Ed Reed. Dansby is more likely to make a move and while I think he'll still be an upgrade for us i just can't get as excited...

Re: The Case For...
Suggs and Dansby are going to be tagged by their respective teams. If I had my pick, I would go with Dansby. Suggs is a terrific players, but he can be a bit of thug at times, and this is reflected in personal fouls he has committed (his favorite, roughing the passer). I guess AZ going ot the SB drove Dansby price higher, had they not gone we could've gotten him at a less expensive price. But like I said, it is a moot point b/c AZ will most likely tag him.

I believe Shane Lechler already has or will be franchised by the Raiders, meaning there's no way in hell he plays anywhere but Oakland next year. No one will give up 2 1st rounders for a punter. Now, if they franchise Asomugha again, then I'm all for pursuing Lechler. I'm not going to make my case for any one individual, rather for a position. I think we need to draft the best tackle available at 13, or trade down for extra picks and still take the best tackle available with our 1st selection. We've got to have one of the oldest (and most brittle) O-lines in the game. Priority number 1 is build the trenches IMO.
