Re: Report: Shanahan in Talks with Redskins
As much as i'd love to keep Gray as DC (Blache needs to go), i'd be shocked if Shanahan didn't bring in someone from the outside. He's going to want his people here.

Re: Report: Shanahan in Talks with Redskins
I would be shocked if he fired Blache. The biggest qusestion I have is would Blache want to continue to coach.

The way Snyder feels about Blache and Gray, they may get a shot. I think they have some respect around the NFL. Of course if Snyder has truly learned, it won't be his decision to make.

I may be naive, but I don't think the rule, as its currently designed, has ever done any good. Mike Tomlin was not a Rooney-Rule Interview. He would have been interviewed regardless of his skin color. However, we all know no one has ever seriously considered hiring Ron Meeks to be their head coach. Yet, he interviews for jobs every year. Its a sham and its degrading.

Re: Report: Shanahan in Talks with Redskins
Id certainly prefer continuity but why would you be shocked? Do they have some connection i'm not aware of? Shanahan goes through defenisve coordinators like jon gruden goes through quarterbacks and tiger woods goes through mistresses.

I guess you could say the same thing in Seattle were Jim Mora Jr. was named the successor before Holmgren was gone.

Re: Report: Shanahan in Talks with Redskins
Blache seems so hard to gauge with the way he acts. Doesnt want to talk to the media b/c he is fed up...but comes to the defense of his Owner and then talks about the love he has for his players in regards to the probowl. I remember hearing several years ago he had to be talked back into staying in Washington and was going to retire. I would like him to stay, I like his ass kicking approach to the players, even if it ruffles some feathers (Carlos)...And Dan Snyder seems to love the guy

I only really have two concerns with Shanahan has our HC 1) his lines in denver were always the smaller, more agile type and i'm not sure that type of line would hold up well in this division. 2) He'll get rid of our defensive staff and system and our defenses will be as instable as his were in Denver. If Shanahan can somehow be convinced to keep our system in place with either Blache or Gray as coordinator, and Shanahan sticks to running the offense (our defenses have pretty much had full autonomy for most of the past decade), then we're not far off from being a truly great team again.

Re: Report: Shanahan in Talks with Redskins
I think the Shanahan ("The Rat" look when he smiles, Raiders call him that) rumor is pretty much a done deal, the move to get Bruce Allen with 3 games left on the season is to get a jump on someone like the Cowboys who are also rumored to be enamored with Shanahan. Probably after they play SD, as soon as the game is over, Zorn is fired and Shanahan is named HC. That's my theory.
