McNabb is an average player. He wasn't alwayNext year, he'll likely still be average. He's worth about what his contract says he's worth.s an average player, but he is now.

We have much bigger fish to fry in the offseason than McNabb, in part because we didn't use that pick we traded for him to solve those issues. The biggest difference from the Campbell era is that there's no outside hope (for me) that McNabb might somehow become the franchise in 2013. He is about as good as his level of play, which I hope is close to what we were expecting when we picked him up (perhaps with fewer INTs), because he's been healthier than we could have reasonable expected.
McNabb Is a average player running for his life.

DM has no running game, terrible WRs and a crummy O line so its tough to look good or make anything happen. DM is past his prime but if he had some weapons he'd be playing much better.

Neither do the Colts but their offense still functions. And before you call me crazy remember this is a team thats ranked 32nd in rushing. Their starting Left Tackle is a 6th round pick who's playing next to an undrafted free agent LG that was so good, we decided to cut him during his rookie year. Not to mention their receiving corps is going down faster then the Lusitania. Imagine what would happen if that description matched the Skins personnel.

Now obviously we can't expect McNabb to put up a 90 plus rating with some of the problems we've had on the offensive side of the ball, but I'm pretty sure we can expect a passer rating above 80. Especially considering the system he's in as well as the fact that he does have a decent receiving corps.

Usually a good QB can cover up a lot of deficiencies. I hate to break it to everyone but we're not going to have a line that reads top 5 pick, 2nd rounder, 1st rounder, big name free agent, 1st rounder. Fortunately we might be able to patch up the receiving corps through free agency and take it to the next level but still. I certainly expected better then 12 TD passes especially given all the red zone opportunities this team has had.

After the houston game I was so pumped that we finally had a good qb,but as we all know now Houston's pass defense makes everyone look all pro.Mcnabb since then has looked JC like. The problem is how I see it,Snyder wants to win now and will not draft a QB to "groom".Looking back now I wish we would have kept JC and or drafted bradford.I wouldnt care if they let Mcnabb go,just about any journeyman QB could put up his numbers,Grossman included.

The question we need to answer now is weather DM5 is a Kurt Warner or a Daunte Culpepper/Matt Hasselbeck. Obviously I'd hate to let Donovan go to another team and pull a B Lloyd on us especially since McNabb doesn't even come close to the amount of a luggage that a guy like Lloyd came with. However it would suck to hold onto him only to find out that he's done.
Nice question, Dirt. Warner came back w/the Cards & played at a pro bowl level after he looked totally done w/the g-men. I think McNabb has it in him. I know he's looked bad at times, but he's also shown more leadership & playmaking ability than JC.

Has anyone considered that McNabb has been mentally exhausted by this season too? The whole team looked bad sunday, the collective psyche of the team seems tired. I'm not making excuses, but there were/are a lot of transitions being undertaken this year. I think McNabb & Shan/Allen deserve another year before we start to reconsider what they've started.

McNabb was won us a couple more games that JC wouldnt have, so I see that as an upgrade. Sure hes on the downside of his career, but he is our best option at this point. I think you look elsewhere on this team to point fingers at this time. Our roster is generally lacking in talent. Shanny brought in 24 new guys and gutted alot of salary and age, look for this trend to continue in the offseason.

We have a 1st and a 2nd in the draft, we have a larger market of free agents...this team was not a playoff team coming into this year. McNabb, the entire offense and defense are under new schemes, coaching staffs, etc. Lets give it a little time

If it's getting harder for us fans to watch the Skins, imagine how hard it is to go out and play for them. McNabb is playing on the Skins. What do you want him to do to stand out? The Oline sucks so he's feeling unbelievable pressure. When he does have a little time in the backfield, his receivers are not open. The play calling is conservative at best. No RB to dump it off to. No play action, no screens, nothing to help him out.

Can't judge DM this season.

It was my belief at the time McNabb was traded for, he was overvalued. Many of the mistakes we see him make are not the direct result of the ineffectiveness of the O/L, mistakes you wouldn't expect to see repeated from a 12yr. veteran being adorned with celebrity status.

McNabb… or McFail? | Man Cave Sports

Brian Baldinger once characterized McNabb as being a flawed quarterback, based on his play at times it's hard to argue his assessment.

As usual the QB is to blame.

I'm more disappointed with the team overall than just individual players.

Not really a completely fair comparison since the Colts have had that same system since Manning came into the league. And even then they've certainly had their share of struggles this year.

The Redskins overvalued him. Thats not on DM. He has always been inconsistent. When he's hot he's the best in the NFL, when he's off, he's off. That's what you get with DM.

No one player alone is ever totally responsible for either the success or failure of a team. All too often in the game of football the coach or the QB get to share in the majority of credit or blame, for failure or success depending on the circumstance.

In the Redskins case when it comes to blame, there's more than enough gathered already and it can be spread out throughout the team. McNabb himself has admitted on more than one occasion that he hasn't played well this season. When the team can't depend on it's leader to perform well on game day, that lack of confidence can have a trickle down effect.....

That pretty much sums up my point too.

I'm not disgusted. He is what he is. He'll make some great throws and he'll make some terrible throws. He's consistenly inconsistent. I'm a little disappointed with the turnovers cause before he got here it seems like he was good at taking care of the ball. I think he can still play, he just needs better players around him.
