Is anyone else just absolutely disgusted with DM5's play?

Look at starting QBs in the NFC this year and ask yourself if Donovan McNabb is better or worse than his peers - - in 2010. His "Peers" are QBs who have been starters on NFC teams in 2010...

Philly:
Michael Vick - - better than DM
Kevin Kolb - - not better than DM

Dallas:
Tony Romo - - not better than DM
Jon Kitna not better than DM

NY Giants:
Eli Manning - - better than DM

Atlanta:
Matt Ryan - - better than DM

New Orleans:
Drew Brees - - better than DM

Carolina:
Jimmy Claussen - - not better than DM
Brian St. Pierre - - not better than DM (he DID start for the Pantloads this year)

Tampa:
Josh Freeman - - PUSH with DM

Green Bay:
Aaron Rodgers - - better than DM

Detroit:
Matt Stafford - - not better than DM
Shaun Hill - - not better than DM
Drew Stanton - not better than DM

Minnesota:
Brett Favre - - not better than DM

Chicago:
Jay Cutler - - PUSH with DM (better the last 4 games; not as good the first 8 games)

SF:
Alex Smith - - not better than DM
Troy Smith - - not better than DM
David Carr - - not better than DM

St. Louis:
Sam Bradford - - better than DM

Arizona:
Derek Anderson - - not better than DM
Max Hall - - not better than DM

Seattle:
Matt Hasselbeck - - PUSH with DM


In the NFC there have been 24 starting QBs counting DM. 6 are better;
3 are a PUSH; 14 are not better. That makes him solidly ABOVE average.

I could do this for the AFC too but it would probably come out the same.

The bottom line is that Donovan McNabb is not the best QB in the league or the conference - - but it would have been abjectly stupid to count him as such on the day the Redskins traded for him. He is better than a majority of his peers - - his peers are other players who have started at QB in 2010.

Back in the spring of 2010, the Skins had three choices; (1) they could keep Jason Campbell as the QB; (2) they could trade for a QB who had NFL experience or (3) they could draft a QB. Shanahan clearly did not want to stick with Campbell so trade or draft were the REAL options.

Look at some of the QBs who changed teams last year:

McNabb
Delhomme
Anderson
Troy Smith
Rosenfels
Losman
Quinn
Bulger
Sorgi
Leinhart
[and probably a couple of others too]

Which QB on that list of "available via trade/free agency' would you want on your team in 2010? If you say anyone other than McNabb you just have not been paying attention...

There was NO WAY the Skins could have drafted Sam Bradford. So, which other rookie QB is lighting it up in the NFL this year to the point that you would say he is better than Donovan McNabb right now? Colt McCoy is a possibility but he has really only played 3 games. Tim Tebow? Max Hall, John Skelton, Rusty Smith?

Am I disgusted with McNabb's play in 2010. HELL NO!!

Could he play better? OF COURSE!

Could the Skins be worse off at QB? YOU BET!

Was there a better option available to the Skins for 2010? NO...

We could have traded Campbell even if we didn't get McNabb.

Our lower draft position thanks to McNabb harms us.

The opportunity cost of the second rounder may look a win for this year, but a Terrence Cody would be providing more than 0 utility three years from now.

Also, I wouldn't say Romo is worse than McNabb. He's a PUSH at worst. Shanahan loves Romo btw.

I certainly expected better then 12 TD passes especially given all the red zone opportunities this team has had.

Peyton has been in that system for over 10 years. How can u compare us to Indy.

Someone mentioned Mike Vick, Thats a unfair comparison since Vick is probably in top 3 for NFL MVP this season. Keep in mind, when Vick has no play, he runs. DM can't really do that anymore. It is pretty evident that the "lack" of a rushing attack for the Colts THIS YEAR is more because they don't have to rather than they don't want to. The Colts are able to get 5 yard chunks often enough to keep defense honest from selling out against the pass. We are not able to do that.

Yeah I'm a Jets fan who happens to be a Riggo fan. But if I was a fake Skins fan I would have had to jump ship many, many, many years ago. It's been a while since they did well.

I really don't think the Skins have any fake fans left.

You Redskin fans are always crying about the QB last season most of you were crying about JC being a bad QB. Now some of you where excited about McNabb coming here and week 14 you are crying again. Look this team needs to rebuild we are old and slow on defense. On offense we need a #1 RB and WR. We need a better O-line to open holes and pass protect for D-Mac. This is his 1st year and D-Mac is not a great QB he can get the job done with a good back and pass protection for next season. I'm also tired of fans saying last years defense was som good and a they were in the top 10 defense. So what we were 4-12 and when our sorry offense did get the lead in the game our #10 defense could not get a stop when we needed it to win the game. The 3-4 can work when we get some younger and faster LB's and D-Line who are agile and can rush the passer. We also have to stop the run better or teams will not have to pass. This team has alot of work ahead this off season. So stop crying and man up or get off the band wagon and root for another team.

I'm not a Jets fan. They are my SB pick. As far as Riggo is concerned, He is not a Redskins fan nor has he ever been. He openly admits that.

When the Skins are out of the race I support the Jets. I'm NY'er as you can see under my avatar. Has nothing to do with JR.
