Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday

Please prepare for Jake Locker or Ryan Mallet next year.

Quote:
Mel Kiper Jr.
Shanahan could target Locker
"It could be really interesting if one of the top three QBs is still sitting there when the Skins pick, no? I still think they'll take a WR (Justin Blackmon's an option) or trade down at this spot, as their needs are many, depth is light, and they aren't picking in the 3rd or 4th rounds. While Cameron Newton and Ryan Mallett are graded out to go in this area, word had it that coach Mike Shanahan was enamored with Jake Locker last year (when the Redskins had the 4th pick). This year, if he still likes Locker, they could trade down, add a pick, and still get him. He once made a similar move to get Mr. Jay Cutler."

Grossman is remembered for the sack and TD in the Lions game this year, but really that wasn't his fault. Apart from that he did fairly decent in his limited minutes in the Lions game. I'm not about to label him the next Chase Daniel but if, if, this works and Kyle/Rex get this offense rolling...that will be something
oh ok well that makes sense then :/

He took the time to get his facts together. Not exactly what you would call impressive is it? lol

If we had a good young QB to test drive I'd understand. But Grossman?

Another headscratcher personnel decision at the QB position by Shanahan.

I'd rather trade up somehow for Luck, or take Newton... I do NOT want Locker, I know that much.

There are people who echo what you're saying, people who maintain they would rather see John Beck because we haven't seen him in a real game. We've seen Grossman for several years now and the majority don't seem to be impressed with his abilities as an NFL quarterback.

This team hasn't had a disciplinarian like Shan since Marty in 01. The coaches since then were more players coaches/nice guys. DS opted not to hire GW who is an outspoken disciplinarian. So he may be an egomaniac, or it may seem so because this team has lacked that kind of authority figure for so long.
i really hope he can right the ship, but honestly i don't see how that can happen after this season but ya never know. i just feel in this day and age it takes a different type of coach and a different type of football to win. the game is getting faster by the week and things are constantly changing and you have to make adjustments to adapt.

thus far shanahan has not adjusted anything in a positive way, the offense still can't score and the play calling gets worse every game it seems. i mean if you have a rb who has 150 yards going into half time why would you not continue to run him? if the 3-4 isn't working don't force it use a few more 4-3 formations and slowly make a transition.

it's just hard as a fan to watch this team just keep heading in a downward spiral. a few people have said it and i really think this year was worse than last year. zorn was in over his head and everyone called him out, but now we have shanahan making alot of moves that are just as questionable, but he gets a pass because of two rings. i think after this season it is a wash, he now has no lee-way after what has gone down this year. every move he makes from here on out will be under immense scrutiny and justifiably so.

bottom line is i am just sick and tired of this crap and wish fan boy would sell the team or move to la so we can pull a b-more, because when you want to point the final blame shanahan and his "boy genius" son aren't the ones that i hold ultimatly accountable. snyder has put us in this mess and he is the only one who can get us out. hopfully shanahan works out....

I don't know that we have the luxury to trade up for Luck. I don't know what to feel about Newton. I don't think he fits this offense. But I'm telling you for 8 months now the name I constantly hear brought up is Jake Locker. That could all change of course but it really does seem to be the guy targeted by the Skins. I like him but I'm not gung ho on him. I think he may be a bit overrated.

Grossman won me a fantasy football title damnit!!!

One guy is impressed with Grossman's abilities...and his dad is the head coach.

Locker is the low-efficiency player that fits our current offensive style. And if we're picking at 11-14, we might not be able to do better than the guy who best fits our system.

But I'm with you: Ponder 100/100 times over Locker. I think Devlin's pretty good too, but he seems to fit a strictly west coast short-to-long system. I'll be trying to watch him tomorrow to get a better idea on Devlin.

Good Stuff SS....The photograph of Sammy Baugh is the way players outfitted when I first started watching the game. Think they would have anything to say about the kind of hits players take today? Hell, they didn't even wear face-mask's in those days.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday

But can you imagine if we changed coaches after 2011 and then had a second year Locker coming off a dreadful, mistake-prone rookie season? You couldn't find a coach at the professional level who'd be willing to take on that mess.

Steve Sarkisian in 2012! Because someone has to do it!

Yeah Devlin's ok, people seem to like Gabbert too. I think that's his name, from Mizzou.
