Again what if: Cousins plays well, looks good in a traditional West Coast Offense, and the team wins all 3 games? would that be good enough reason to keep MS one more yr, start Cousins next yr, and only bring someone new in at DC? Then between the draft and the $36 mill upgrade the OL, WR, and defense side of the ball?
In the brief bit that I have seen Cousins this year and last year I do not think he has the big play ability that RG3 has shown from last year and to a much lesser extent this year. While a game manager type of QB can get you to the playoffs I don't think they have what it takes to succeed consistently in todays NFL. I have heard the professionals discuss Cousins quick release and comfort in the pocket and that certainly is a plus in his favor. On the other side I am concerned of some of the habits that RG3 has been developing this year like not stepping into throws. Yes he is young but he is getting to an age where habits become more challenging to break.

Also heard the same about "running QB's". Many of people here have said very few QB's like RG3, McNabb, etc. etc. do not do well and don't go very far because they are often injured. Some have said they would prefer a pocket passer.

Cousins might not seem to have the "IT" factor but maybe he manages the ball well and wins the games. Sounds like Eli Manning to me.

No, sounds like John Beck to me. We been down this road. The NFC Super bowl representative will be a running QB who runs read option.

Anyway, look at Matty Ice and Schaub. classic drop back paser game managvers that have problems with athletic defensive players. Even look at Breeze , he is being meurderd this year. We thought that with John Beck and Grossman, not true so they got RG3 to give our QB some athletic ability. We tried this before with the great drop passer hope is not gonna save you from the running QB. Cousins is not that good.

The only thing, the only thing that makes RG3 special is his legs. Meaning he's fast and he can run. Yes I'm all for a QB who has mobility so he can get away from pressure unlike Sexy Rexy, but I'd prefer my QB to stay in the pocket and go through is progressions if at all possible. Which brings me back to the OL which sucks.

Beck? no. but am wiching for a QB who is like Aaron Rodgers, one who will sit in the pocket and deliver the ball, but will run from pressure if need be. Beck was not the latter.

You need an offense for that. Shannahan's offense is not what you looking for. With a drop back QB his offense sucks, with a running Qb his offense sucks. His only decent season was running read option. Any season he ran his own offense, his offense sucked.

If you look at his college game compared to Cousins he is much better at downfield passing than Kirk while Kirk was better at short and intermediate. Also in reference to Eli manning being a game manager that is a ridiculous statement.

Wait, what? I was referring to Eli not being very mobile. He's not known as a running QB like RG3. He's known for managing a game and sitting in the pocket and delivering the ball, but CAN scramble a little to avoid pressure if need be.

Fair enough. I thought you were saying Kirk Cousins and Eli were the same type of player.
