I know anything can happen, but Cowboys and Packers are divsion winners and the West and South divisions will probably finish 7-9 or worse. Winning 4 of 7 will probably earn a berth and then we'll face Packers or Cowboys.
I predicted last week that 9-7 will be good enough for a wild card. With Detroit's tough schedule - I don't see them winning more than 9 games and we own the tie break over them. It also helped that the Saints and Panthers lost. A wildcard for the Skins is still a decent possibility if they start taking care of their own business.

Yeah honestly, winning four of our next seven games doesn't seem too unrealistic to me. That of course means us cutting out the shooting ourselves in the foot routine that we did today.

Don't forget we're still right there in the playoff picture. Only trailing Detroit, and New York by one game for the wildcard spot. The way I look at it the NFC East is out of reach, and we need to just focus on getting a wildcard spot which is still very possible.

Honestly, I will be happy to see this team finish at 10-6 even if 10-6 isn't enough to get us in the playoffs. I will be disappointed for us not to make the playoffs, but considering all the injuries this team has been racking up, us finishing above .500 will be a big turnaround from a year ago.

the other silver lining is that clinton portis looked completely devastated after the loss... I love the guy and he looked like he was stabbed in the heart as he was walking off the field... I felt connected to him in a way because that's exactly what I felt.

I wish more guys felt that way...I love the guy's passion and his efforts to win. I said a couple of weeks ago I thought he was still the face of the franchise.... and to my surprise no one really agreed with me...

I hate it when I am cursing the TV and feel like my heart was ripped in half but the players are all smiles and "aww shucks we lost".

I hear ya! When he looked like he was in a slump early this season, I felt he just wasn't 100% yet. People were jumping in line waiting for their turn to bash the guy, and now there is silence since he seems to be back to his old form. He's on pace to go over 1,000 yards rushing this season, which is still an impressive feat in my eyes. I will admit that if there has been any Redskin that I have been very critical about, it's been Carlos Rogers. But, he seemed to have started coming around before he had gotten injured. I'm just wondering where we would be right now if we hadn't had all the injuries we've had so far this season?

Portis is the man - I hope I don't hear ANYONE saying they prefer Betts after seeing Clinton put this team on his back the last couple of games. The guy is an absolute warrior.

Clinton has definitely stepped up these last two games.

My only beef with putting our hopes on the running game is that every team in our division has a back better than Portis. So if we are going to run the ball until the cows come home, our offense is going to get outgained by all our divisional opponents.

It's Cooley and Campbell that make us unique and will allow us to separate us from our competition.

you really think that??? westbrook cannot get a short yardage run... they shoveled it in today, and he's a great speedy recieving back, but I'd take portis over any other back in our division....

is brandon jacobs better? and julius jones? or are you talking about marion barber?

Either way portis is the second leading rusher in the NFC and number 3 in the entire league... in yards and in td's...

I'm not trying to call you out or be mean, but what you say makes no sense to me.

Westbrook wouldn't last half a season here if asked to get the tough yards that Portis gets. He's an excellent fit for what Philly likes to do - spread the field with the pass, run a lot of draws and screen passes. He is not a classic pounder like Portis.

Jacobs is better, Barber is better, Westbrook is better.

Westbrook can't get a short yardage run...that's not based in reality. You don't have to look any further than today, but if you choose to, he's got incredible statistical splits in every situation. He's just a great player, probably the best RB in the conference.

Barber is just really, really good. Probably the 2nd best running back in the conference. Great vision, runs hard, great receiving skills. You can't really argue that Portis is a better running back than those two.

Now, Jacobs is the most controversial, but based on what he's done so far this year, he is very clearly better than Portis. He's still got a long way to go to establish himself as an elite back, but right now I would say he's running better than Portis. Jacobs is having a great, great year so long as hes been healthy. Much better than Portis, thus far. We'll see if I'm right on this one. One thing is for sure, the Giants running game over the past few years has been much better than ours.

I agree. If the other players on offense follow his lead and play with the same drive & intensity- the offense would be able to dominate. It seems like every other player on offense is playing scared.

Want some more good news? Giants play the Lions next week. And the Giants still have to play the Patriots. Lions have the Packers twice and the Chargers. There might only be 5 teams that finish over .500 (I doubt anyone in the west will).

The best thing about today's game is that it likely didn't help or hurt our chances to make the playoffs. The Giants, Saints, Lions, and Panthers all lost today.
