Ryan threw for ~200 more yards, 3 more TD's and 5 more INT's. Flacco threw 300 yards fewer than Jason, one more TD and 6 more INT's. The QB you can best compare to JC right now is probably a guy like Jake Delhomme. If you compare the first 30 or so games of both players, their stats are remarkably similar, with Jake owning a couple more wins than Jason. The major difference is Delhomme having a higher y/a and Jason having a lower INT%. Both were on teams that were largely run-first teams with stout defenses and a speedster-mold WR as their main target. And those Panther teams had the benefit of Muhammad as a dynamite possession guy at the WR2 while we've had no legit WR2 for years. Given that Delhomme turned into a pretty solid if unspectacular QB who was able to lead the Panthers to the playoffs many times and can win when he's got some talent to work with, I don't think this is such a horrible floor for a guy like Campbell. If he turns out to be even more of a player, so much the better.

Re: I Was impressed!!!
I'm so tired of the anti-Campbell crowd.
Jason is our quarterback for the season. At minimum, deal with it. And if you are a real fan of the Redskins, you will support him. If you can't support him, find another team.

Re: I Was impressed!!!
Couldn't have said it better myself. I swear, sometimes I feel there are people here that want JC to fail.

Re: I Was impressed!!!
Yeah for some it seems more important to be right than to win.

Re: I Was impressed!!!
I'm not going to quote anybody.... I'm going to simply ask that NO MATTER what happened before this season, Judge Campbell on this years performance. WE HAVE NO ONE BETTER TO PLAY QB!!!! that said, I will be surprised if soup can pull out an 8-8 record... Soups' decision making process runs as fast as chilled molases...

Re: I Was impressed!!!
JC can be good if people give him a chance, watch, he'll have a breakout year and leave and win a couple rings and people will be saying...man why didn't we hang on to that guy.
that said, i wouldnt' mind seeing tim tebow in a skins uniform, i hear a lil guy named danny snyder is in love with him. |

Matt Ryan's stats are comparable. He threw 16 TDs, 11 picks and 3440 yards, that's pretty comparable to JC and he had a consistent running game and a much better wide receiver than anyone who was on the Skins roster last year. That will probably offend people, but Roddy White is better, right now, than Santana Moss. I'm not trying to act like Ryan or Flacco aren't good players (Flacco has looked great this preseason) but everyone jumping on their jocks because their teams won makes little sense. Flacco didn't outplay Campbell last season and Ryan probably did, but the fact remains, there were far worse QB's in the playoffs last season than Jason Campbell. |

Ah yes - that would be part of the Blind, Mindless Obedience doctrine -the pertinent portion that dictates, "If a player wears burgundy and gold, he WILL command undying support to the bitter end, regardless of one's opinion as to that player's relative worth to the organization. Disparaging remarks will not be tolerated." If one's devotion to this team is measured in terms of the amount of criticism directed towards one or more of its players, based on some of the remarks I've seen over the relatively short period of time I've been a member of this forum, I dare say that there'd be a mass exodus of 'skins fans, were said detractors prone to subscribe to your philosophy. That said, I've been a "real fan" of the Redskins for darned close to forty years now, and I've seen nothing thus far that would warrant my defection, quarterback selection notwithstanding. This forum is all ABOUT opinions - and while you no doubt have heard the familiar saying about them - everyone's got one, most of 'em stink - we're ALL entitled to them, and within the boundaries of proper decorum, entitled to share them. If you find my opinions that objectionable, I respectfully suggest that you consider blocking them. |

Re: I Was impressed!!!
Campbell showed sparks of a truly poised, confident and dangerous playmaker. He also made mistakes. It's pre-season and at least he showed me something to make me have a little confidence that he is growing, getting better and may just prove all of his detractors wrong. I'm behind him all the way because like other posters have pointed out, he's all we got.
I'm hoping that the O-line provides him with some protection against the VAgiants because if they do....upset city, baby!
