Disagreed. As the saying goes, even a blind pig can find an acorn. Sadly, you're all setting yourselves up for heartbreak. And BTW, I don't consider myself a "JC hater" - I was on his bandwagon for 3 1/2 years - and now it's time to hop off....you DO remember Heath Shuler, don't you????

Please tell me that you are not really comparing JC to Shuler.

I know a good crow restaurant in Miami, and February is crow season.

You are correct about Shuler not being in Campbell's class - my point, and I s'pose I should have clarified it, was that Shuler - like Campbell - was billed as the Redskins' "Savior", so to speak; both first rounders, and both disappointments. If you're happy with JC's output after the past four freaking years, then by setting your sights low, you'll not be disappointed come the end of this season.

Quite frankly, I'm tired of hearing the same flimsy excuse about his performances - too many changes in offensive coordinators/offensive schemes and philosophies - being regurgitated year after year by myopic Campbell fans. Flacco and Ryan changed coordinators/systems - look how THEY produced their first year.

How many more lackluster seasons by this guy will it take for management to make the necessary adjustments to the roster? Shuler fit well in Tennessee's scheme, as Campbell did at Auburn - but alas, sometimes, college heroes are destined to become NFL zeroes. And while JC's not quite a zero, he's probably more attuned to assuming the role of backup.

Jusmytoosenzwurth - for what THAT'S worth.....

I'm sure you know this, but obviously this is necessary to remind u; learning a new offense system is harder than you think, even than we think.. QB is a position who have to knowledge of every position (perhaps except for o-line?).. Give the guy a break, this is his first time to have same offense for 2nd year, at least can you wait the judgment until the season is over?

Flacco; Cam Cameron protected him by calling LOT of running plays, Ravens is #1 in NFL for calling running plays (60% or something like that).. Ryan, I don't really have an argument for him, except that maybe he did not really change much on his throwing motions/footing? While JC was working on both throwing motions/footing and learning the system.. Or maybe Ryan is just that good?

After all, it's not like we can do something about it but to accept that he is our #1 QB.. Some of you guys have been arguing against JC for whole off-season and preseasons, and yet this does not make anything different for Redskins and us fans.. We all have heard same arguments over and over and over.. What's the point of continuing this?

Jesus christ, just goddamn give him a break and reserve your judgments until the season is over (this goes to all you JC bashers)..

Flacco's stats from last year are NOT better than Jason Campbell's. I will repeat that, Joe Flacco did not have better stats last year than Jason Campbell. 14 Td's, 12 INTs and 2971 Yards << 13, 6, and 3245. I'm so sick of people confusing a great team with a great QB. Flacco was basically in a no fail situation, they have a far better d than Washington and 3 running backs who all contributed more than anyone not named Clinton Portis. It's pretty difficult to have a bad season in that case.

Matt Ryan's stats are comparable. He threw 16 TDs, 11 picks and 3440 yards, that's pretty comparable to JC and he had a consistent running game and a much better wide receiver than anyone who was on the Skins roster last year. That will probably offend people, but Roddy White is better, right now, than Santana Moss.

I'm not trying to act like Ryan or Flacco aren't good players (Flacco has looked great this preseason) but everyone jumping on their jocks because their teams won makes little sense. Flacco didn't outplay Campbell last season and Ryan probably did, but the fact remains, there were far worse QB's in the playoffs last season than Jason Campbell.

Well, first of all, there were only 3 QB's who had a better QB rating in the postseason than Jason had in the reg. season. (PManning, Roethlisberger, Warner). That's not much of an apples-to-apples comparison though, because almost every QB in the playoffs had better regular season stats than in the playoffs (for obvious reasons).

But here's the list of QB's in the playoffs last season whose *regular season* QB rating ranked below Jason Campbell:

* Ben Roethisberger
* Joe Flacco
* Kerry Collins
* Tavaris Jackson
* Byron Leftwich (edited, can't believe I wrote Garrard, guess it was late)

QB's in the playoffs last season whose regular season QB rating were 5 points higher (or less) than Jason Campbell:

* Eli Manning
* Donovan McNabb
* Matt Ryan
* Jake Delhomme

That leaves only 5 QB's in the playoffs last season whose regular season QB rating was appreciably better than Jason Campbell:

* Philip Rivers
* P. Manning
* Chad Pennington
* Warner
* Brees

Wait, are you holding up Ryan and Flacco's stats last year as an example of why Campbell isn't any good?

Ryan threw for ~200 more yards, 3 more TD's and 5 more INT's. Flacco threw 300 yards fewer than Jason, one more TD and 6 more INT's.

The QB you can best compare to JC right now is probably a guy like Jake Delhomme. If you compare the first 30 or so games of both players, their stats are remarkably similar, with Jake owning a couple more wins than Jason. The major difference is Delhomme having a higher y/a and Jason having a lower INT%.

Both were on teams that were largely run-first teams with stout defenses and a speedster-mold WR as their main target. And those Panther teams had the benefit of Muhammad as a dynamite possession guy at the WR2 while we've had no legit WR2 for years.

Given that Delhomme turned into a pretty solid if unspectacular QB who was able to lead the Panthers to the playoffs many times and can win when he's got some talent to work with, I don't think this is such a horrible floor for a guy like Campbell. If he turns out to be even more of a player, so much the better.

Re: I Was impressed!!!

I'm so tired of the anti-Campbell crowd.

Jason is our quarterback for the season. At minimum, deal with it. And if you are a real fan of the Redskins, you will support him. If you can't support him, find another team.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I swear, sometimes I feel there are people here that want JC to fail.
