Re: 'Occupy' types

I drove by Occupy Richmond Sunday. Then i heard this morning on the way to work (why i am unable to attend the protests) that they got "evicted" at 1am this morning.

Im wondering if theyll start occupying their homes:

The Richmond group is on public property (not like NYC) so they are susposed to have a permit. Late last week a report came out that the Tea Party was charged 8k for the protests that they held at the exact same park. The double standard pissed a lot of people off and i think is probably the main reason the cleaned out the Richmond park this morning.

Were Occupy Richmond paying for such a permit, the expense would be running a tab close to $11,000.

“We feel it is unjust that the city would have preferable treatment for the ‘Occupiers,’” Wilkerson said.

He emphasized that they “have no beef with the ‘Occupiers,’ but that, their “problem is that there is preferable treatment when it comes to the Tea Party.”

“We have to dot every ‘i’and cross every ‘t,’” he added. “The law should apply for everyone.”

Wilkerson pointed out that the Tea Party were only there in the day time whereas the protesters have been there 24 hours a day, going on two weeks now.

Additionally, Wilkerson noted that they had to pay for their port-o-potties while Occupy Richmond was given theirs for free. “It is an expense for the taxpayers of the city also that is being incurred.”

They asked for their money back because they think it is “fair and just.”

“The people look to the government to be fair to everybody,” Wilkerson said.
