Whether we play beck or grossman, it doesn't really matter. Bottom line is we don't have a starting caliber quarterback. Period.

You have to believe that the Shanahan/Allen consortium recognizes that this team needs a QB change for next year, right?

OK, so they go and draft one - - but the question will still remain:
Is this guy going to be ready to start on Day One of the 2012 season?
So, they could well go into Free Agency to find a guy who has been around for a while to use as a "mentor" or a "stopgap" or at the very least as a credible back-up QB in the event that the draftee gets his bell rung.

Keep an ear to the ground to try and figure out which NFL free agent might be coming here next March as the guy who will be standing next to the Draft Day Hero that the Skins select.

Rather than Matt Leinart, I would prefer Kyle Orton in that role...

The Redskins did try to get Leinart after the lockout. If Mike Shanahan thinks that John Beck is in developmental mode, and he's the QB of the future, then he needs to have his head examined. Given the injuries on offense, I'm not taking anything away from Beck. I just doubt that he's the answer at QB. If Allen and Shanahan doesn't realize this, then the Redskins will be doomed to be disastrous in 2012. We need to draft Griffin III, L. Jones, or Matt Barkley with our first pick.

I don't see how he could think Beck is the qb of the future, unless he's enamored with inaccurate throws, intentional grounding, happy feet, throwing to the guy he picks pre-snap instead of progressing through his reads, not trusting his offensive line, using his mobility to run into defensive players, showing a general inability to make plays, and having his defense spend way too much time on the field. If that's the case, then Beck is his guy. Oh yeah and also being 0-7 as a starting qb in the NFL.

Mike Shanahan makes excuses for Beck, much like Norv Turner used to make excuses for Gus Frerotte. Shanahan talks about how Beck is a young QB, and he needs time to develop. This is basically saying that no matter how our QB position looks to everyone outside of the organization including sports writers and NFL analysts, Mike Shanahan will overlook Robert Griffin III, Landry Jones, and Matt Barkley and continue on with Beck in the future. If this happens I will be so angry with our head coach. However, even in Beck becomes more consistent and plays beautifully the second half of the season, I still don't see how Allen and Shanahan can neglect the QB position for a second straight year.

If both of them want to remain as HC and GM of the Washington Redskins, they won't overlook a QB in the 2012 draft. They would be dragged through the coals by the media and fans.

You need to learn how to read coach-speak. Of course he makes excuses for Beck, he made excuses for McNabb up until the point he benched him and even until he traded him too. I mean really, do you think Shanahan doesn't understand how bad Beck is? Do you think he's blinded by how Beck says all the right things, or do you think Shanny has shown a favoritism towards Mormon qb's throughout his career? Come on man, even if Beck starts playing better I'm pretty sure Mike Shanahan isn't saying, ok this guy is only 30 years young, he's obviously got a couple decades left as a good starter in this league.

Well if he did you can add that to the list of horrible descisions he's made.Leinart is awful,I would take Grossman over leinart all day long.Houston was stupid for giving him a contract, they better pray Schaub doesnt get hurt.Leinart didnt even look good in preseason with the texans
