Re: Jesse Jackson on Barack Obama

I personally can't stand Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

i don't like jesse jackson cause he's a hypocrite!at least sharpton lets you know how he feels about you to your face.jesse jackson is just full of envy and jealousy because obama has been able to reach more people with his messge in 2 years than jesse has in the last 40.jesse jackson needs to go out and chase satellites or something.

OK, I need to point out that I am in no way an fan of Jackson or Sharpton. I feel both are borderline morons. That being said, you can not dismiss the good that Jackson has done for the african american community. While Shirley Chisholm was the first african american to try to run for president and pave the road for Jackson, Jackson paved a much wider road as the 2nd african american presidential candidate. He was MUCH more successful than Chisholm and he helped carve a road for Obama today because of his efforts. Jackson was the leader of operation breadbasket which was started by Martin Luther King, and was a civil rights group that made more job opportunities for african americans. He was often seen with MLK and joined in on many of the issues that MLK fought for. In the late 70's he was also involved in mid-east peace processes, but wasn't very successful. Point is, he actually has been a significant african american in history. To dismiss that is dismissing history. Sure he is a joke now, but he wasn't nearly as bad back in the day. It actually pains me to defend the man, I feel like his perceived "power" has gone to his mind, and he is now slightly insane.
