remember the old saying?? "the future is now!" he's been hearing that since he was a kid.

I don't think this team will be gutted like some are hoping for. I think most of the vets who make too much money will be dropped. The "offensive" line is the only thing in need of true rebuilding. A new RB is most likely required as well.

This team has quite a bit of young talent, that is close to turning the corner.

Reload/rebuild, whatever you call it, I think BA's point was we have enough talent where you don't have to blow it all up and start over. Get some key pieces in here, lead them with a quality staff, and things will improve.

You can't rebuild a roster in one off season. Some of these bums will be back next year.

Normally, I would agree with you, but in this case, I have my doubts about that. Given that 2010 may be the only uncapped year, it represents a unique time for teams to get rid of all its "excess baggage." For example, Portis may still be servicable now, but will he be in 2011? If not, then why keep him and take a steep cap hit to cut him in 2011 when we can cut him "pain-free" now?

I'm personally hoping/expecting for a purge.

Perhaps, I'm not sure that the upcoming uncapped year is going to be the free-for-all that many people think it's going to be.

i wasnt thinking of us signing a bunch of free agents. i was speaking of us purging our own roster of under-performing, big contract players and replacing them with younger, "no-name" guys who may have less to offer now but more upside.

i would think a lot of NFL teams would use the capless season to get rid of players whose contracts don't match what they bring to the field.

thats been the same saying for a decade now, and it isn't true, yeah we could get a couple guys maybe make a wild card next year, but i would like to see the team take a different approach and say you know what we might only win 6 games next year but we are building a solid foundation right now which we can lean on in the future without it crumbling out from underneath us.

imo you can't address all the positions of need in one offseason, not when your biggest need is oline. because next year would be a horrific year for a rookie qb to learn a new system and a terrible year to waste mileage on a young back. this year they should start getting peices in place and then maybe in the next three years we will have a solid playoff team that will be contenters year in and year out.

me persopnally i don't think we are one or two guys or even 5 guys (that sounds good right now) away from being a contenter, and i would like to see them take a different approach this year rather than trying to fix everything in one offseason which has never worked for us in the past

that's exactly what he was saying. he wants to re load, not rebuild. he even mentioned that JC's best days are ahead of him which leads me to believe that he and the new coach are going to tinker with the roster and try and re load. shanahan isn't coming here for a rebuilding project.

I think guys are looking into things more than they need too. What I got out of his press conference is that he believes this team has talent. I know for damn sure he doesn't believe that this team doesn't have any glaring holes. A blind man can see that it does. He's going to have to start rebuilding this team if he wants to win.

mImdub, how are you and mImpetert feeling so far with the comments and positions Snyder and Allen are making. I am just curious if this is the type of change/actions you wanted to see, or are you still closer to the DS needs to sell the team thought.

guess you missed the article

D.C. Sports Bog - Skins fans reflect on Cerrato's ouster

But still, I'm telling you, people want to hope. So I went to find Chris Mitchell before kickoff. He's the lifelong Redskins fan who flipped the Skins flag on his pickup upside down after the loss to the Panthers, the universal sign for distress. He also helped raise $1,500 to pay for a portable "Fire Vinny" sign that rode around D.C.

Monday, before going to FedEx, Mitchell flipped the flag back over.

"I mean, mainly because Vinny's gone," he said. "They're finally shaking [stuff] up. It's just good to see new [stuff]. Bruce Allen might not be the best choice, but he's a proven winner. If he can win in Oakland with Al Davis, there's a chance he can win here with Snyder. It's still ridiculous, but at least Snyder's getting the message now. The franchise is still in distress, it's not fixed yet, but they know they have to do something. They've gotten the message."

That had me feeling at least a bit cheerful. Well, a few hours later, I got an e-mail from Chris. He had left the stadium when the Giants went up 24-0. It was the first time in his six years as a season ticket holder he had left a game early.

"Guess I jumped the gun on flipping the flag back over," he wrote. "Hopefully the front-office changes will show next year, but tonight was flat-out the worst game I have ever seen the Redskins play."

thats basically how i feel, i liked that snyder also admitted wrong doing in a statement he made this morning, i know he will never sell the team i just wants him hands off, and btw my website idea was donewithdan.com it's in my sig we actually bought the rights to it as well, but i got out voted
