Re: Jeff Fisher: ESPN asked coaches to take timeouts late on Monday night
I agree. Unfortunately both sides can be kept happy if the team in the lead like the Titans just waits to call timeout when there is one second left on the play clock. That way the team in the lead drains the clock, the NFL gets its timeout...and fans get bored.

Re: Jeff Fisher: ESPN asked coaches to take timeouts late on Monday night
Haha, no. I'm not going to share contracts.
As a fan, I totally get the frustration of commercials. Professionally though, well they are necessary and working with production teams, leagues, and advertisers to fulfill commercial obligations...that's no easy task, let me tell you. Still, I really don't know what Jeff Fisher is talking about (though he never actually said ESPN) because there are league officials down there with him and the networks don't tell teams to call time-outs.

I must say that espn has done a fantastic job with MNF, when Kornheiser was on there it kinda sucked but Gruden is great IMO. Tirico is getting better and better at football . I wonder who they will get next season when gruden is in Dallas?

![]() I doubt he'd want to enter that mess. Gruden would want a job with less owner-interference. This is why Wade Phillips is their coach NOW...no big names wanted to be Jerry's slave. Same situation in Oakland...no coach who isn't desperate for a job will ever go there. They'll get the guys who otherwise would not be a HC candidate so they can say it's on their resume. It's not AS BAD in Dallas yet, but they're definitely not a coach-friendly job to anyone not named Parcells who is doing to run the show no matter what Jones says. Norv Turner and Ron Rivera were available at the time Wade was hired, but they ended up with Phillips...definitely the weaker of the possibilities. They almost pulled a Snyderatto-Zorn move and hired Garrett as OC, but promoted to HC before getting any experience. Other candidates were Singletery (before he had any experience), Todd Haley, Tony Sparano, Jim Caldwell (was only a QB coach at the time) and Todd Bowles. No prominent names outside of Norv Turner and maybe Rivera at the time...and Norv isn't THAT great of a HC. He'd be a better coordinator. I just don't see Dallas attracting a big name coach like Gruden or Cowher, especially if this season continues on its' Titanic-like course. They JUST ended what, a 14-year playoff win drought? The Dallas job is looking more like the Chicago Cubs job of the NFL than a dream job.

Sure would be a bitch to have lost your fantasy game due to Johnson going over 100.
Understood that ad revenue is a necessary evil, but I just don't like how this went down. Kinda effs with the integrity of the game. |

I can't see Gruden going to Dallas either, doesn't make sense for him or Jerry. If Norv gets canned in SD I could see him going back to Dallas.

Gruden loves Romo and he's a BIG STAGE guy, I hope he goes somewhere else but JJ will go hard after him.

I wonder what will happen to Jason Garrett when Phillips is fired? What a disappointment Garrett turned out to be.

Jay Glazer speculates John Fox to Dallas, which makes some sense

I just hate the overlap of the 1 o'clock and 4 o'clock games.
