Agreed. Really thought Robinson was going to step up after showing improvement but it seems as if he has not only stopped devolping but has actually regressed. Riley always struck me as prototypical "Just A Guy" player. He can play in the NFL, occasionally flashes but is eminently replaceable.

I can't believe I didn't realize this after watching Fletcher for so many years and Antonio Pierce before that, but having a cerebral coach on the field type MLB is way more important than athleticism.

Ideally you'd have the brain and braun of Luke Keuchly all wrapped into one like the Panthers do, but given the choice I'll take Compton over Robinson every day of the week. Guy communicates and gets guys lined up.

I agree Compton-Mason are playing better as a tandem than Robinson-Riley.
However Robinson was teamed with Riley and Riley has weakness. I think Robinson might have been playing with a bad shoulder.

Riley is really the weak link and in my opinion his play is lacking. If things continue Compton, Mason, Robinson will make a great MLB group. Riley will be the odd man out. We will have a strong LB corp next year. Once Culliver gets back our CB's also look good. We have less and less holes in our line up each time I look.
Tightend, Safety, interior OL, DL and developmental QB seem like are biggest needs.

Compton is a free agent.

Should the Redskins sign Mario Williams or draft another pass rusher ?

While you can't have too many pass rushers I wouldn't go for Mario. Junior Gallette will come much cheaper for us. That would give us three outside rushers, and as always consider picking one up in the draft who could push Murph.

Mario will be incredibly costly. Resigning Cousins is going to eat a big chunk of cap space, I'd rather save the space. If I'm going to pay for any position this year it's safety.

Any predictions on cap space ? There could be several vets cut and 30+ million of space.... they can carry to 2016 6 or 7 million dollars of space from this year.

I'll put pen to paper sometime after the Skins get bounced from the playoffs, but I'm thinking after signing Cousins there will be 15M in space or so.

you must be assuming Cousins gets 12-15 million and no vets are cut

Dashon Goldson has been beyond serviceable..... I'd rather have him than Eric Berry.....I doubt if KC let's Berry enter free agency anyway.....

I would consider that, but my approach would not be to gear up Redskins One to sign him at 12:01 on the dawn of free agency, that's when you overpay. I would wait for the market to come to me, and in all likelihood Berry will have been snatched up by somebody on the first day of free agency, if the Chiefs even let him get there.

So I would be unlikely to pay what it takes to get him. I'd rather wait, let the market set itself, then try to make a value play.

I'd retain Goldson instead. He was solid for us and is a strong & respected leader. I would only rework his deal if I thought I really needed the cap space, and I'm not sure we will. Goldson counts $8M on the cap next year, but keep in mind Jairus Byrd counts $11M, Earl Thomas counts $10M, and Eric Weddle (pending free agent) counted $10M last year. Berry himself counted $11.6M in 2014.

So while Goldson is fairly pricey you have to be careful what you wish for. If you want to replace Goldson with Berry it will cost you a few more million in cap space, and you'd have a disruption in the locker room with a new face coming in while you lose one of the most respected players in there.

My rule is simple - draft draft draft. Very little big guaranteed money to players advanced in their primes.

I was thinking the same, I don't know how everyone feels about K. Jarrett but I loved him this season, I think he could be our SS of the future and is a good nickel back.

One safety I like in the draft is Jamal Adams from LSU
