Re: Pierson Prioleau or Matt Bowen?

I can see Bowen being the blitzer opposite side from Springs, both coming on every other blitz called.

Bowen is a big hitter, one of my favorite players from the intensity POV, but ponderous on pass coverage. He seems to lose a step on thought process.

Re: Pierson Prioleau or Matt Bowen?

The only big hit Bowen's ever put on anyone was trung in training camp.

Bowen is too much of a liability in the passing game to play him much, it also doesnt help to have the other team see 41 and know a blitz is coming. I like Pierson and Stoutamire myself.

So you didn't watch the first two games of last season?

Those are the only two games where he has played well. He is still a liablitiy in the pass coverage, which is why Williams takes him out in obvious pass plays where he is not going to blitz the SS..

Yeah, being on IR made him less available......

Our big problem will be slowing Alexander. I think that Bowen is a little better in the run D (not as good in the pass). So Bowen is a better start this week.

I go with PP. He has been playing very well.

Bowen is very one dimensional. Not very good in pass coverage. I have been frustrated by Bowen's play in the past. He is good at blitzing Qb, but that is about it.

Redskinrat - he didn't really lay any hits where I went wow, what a hit. Not like watching Taylor hit that Cowboys receiver or the Pittsburgh receiver last year. Or like stoutamire vs Moose. Bowen made some good tackles on the blitz, but he didn't really make someone think twice about catching a ball.

I'd have to disagree, good naturedly. There was one blindsider on a QB (sorry, don't remember the opposing team) where I expected to see a priest come on for Last Rites. Bowen can bring it, shaky on pass D though.

Yeah, I remember that hit. It was on Brad Johnson in the first game against the Bucs last year. Not only did he separate Johnson from the ball, he also practically separated Johnson's head from his body. :smashfrea And let's not forget that Johnson is a pretty big qb.

Re: Pierson Prioleau or Matt Bowen?

It's nice we have such a dilemma at safety. Taylor is the obvious starter at FS but with Stoutmire, Bowen, and Prioleau (not to mention Clark when he's healthy) we shouldn't have any problems in the near future. I like Prioleau's solid coverage and sure tackling, as well as his play on special teams. We should definitely keep him in on dime and maybe nickel packages at least. Bowen is a beast as a blitzer, but I'm not confident in his coverage skills. He's best played in certain packages. Stoutmire is a ferocious hitter and someone who might deserve more playing time. I wonder if he'll be the starter in the near future?

Re: Pierson Prioleau or Matt Bowen?

Prioleau will be more missed on special teams than on defense. The guy covers as well as Trash does. We have a great set of safeties. That is really a strength of this team. It will be good to get Prioleau back so that we can have fresh healthy guys back there the entire game.

I don't know of any safety in this league that can bring it like Taylor!
