Very rarely, does a player come along that you already know enough about him before he gets drafted to say that he's a lock to be a top 5 pick, but there are really no questions Chris Long has to answer.

With absolutely no relation to Howie, this kid still has the stuff to be a top 5 selection. The fact that he's got the same blood as an NFL hall of famer gives you insight into his mental makeup that we have very little ability to judge on other prospects.

We use the phrase "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" to make an excuse for a kid who gets into trouble, and instead to blame the parents for the mismanagement of the undisciplined child. That phrase can work in a good sense too. Clearly he's got elite talent, but while all the other players with elite talent are relative unknowns in terms of work ethic, you KNOW that Chris Long won't have any issues with handling the mental load of the NFL because his gene set has already been proven to handle it.

Now I'm not saying that every NFL player will have a kid who will also grow up to be an NFL player. Obviously, that's not the case, but in Long's case...he would be a top 5 pick in the draft if he had NO ties to Howie, and the fact that he does makes him as close to a sure thing as the draft can offer.

I agree with you here. No player in this draft screams bust more than Devin Thomas.

Is he doomed? Not necessarily. But an intelligent GM would let him get well, well past the slot where his skills grade out before they take a shot on him.

If I'm a GM, I wouldn't touch him before the third round, when his physical skills would then justify the huge risk I'm taking on him.

I watched a good no. of uva games & Chris Long has played lights out the past 2 years. He's got a great motor, good size, strength & speed & good moves. I agree, except that chris long already uses his hands crazy..Scouts were exceptionally surprised to see how he used his hands on pro day and whatever. I think he will be a force instantly guys. And IM willing to bet on it. He's big,fast,smart,great work ethic,quick,GREAT motor, and great athlete.

And he comes from a Hall of Famer. HE knows what it takes to win, he has tat mentality, and he has been groomed his whole life for this here, right now. Chris Long will be something the Dolphins can build their franchise around. No matter what he ends up playing.

are you going to give any kind of arguement? or is it just because you dont like the way he looks? and the fact his dad is a HOF? and is on tv all the time? seriously, at least give a reason why you think he's overrated. Cus so far everyone has given you reasons why he ISNT.

Also, college career stats are skewed, and if you wanna look at his senior stats, im sure they are monsterish. You can't even compare a players freshman year to his senior year, this is why the stats are skewed, but im pretty sure Chris still have decent stats. He has played lights out for over 2 years

like i said earlier, he had 3 good games as a senior. his rise in draft status is due to being a work out warrior. i actually like his dad on the pre game show. im not sure why your getting so worked up over someone that will never wear a skins uni. maybe you and him should be posting in the man crush thread? i really have nothing against him. i just think someone is going to make a huge mistake taking him so early

NO, actually ill post in this thread since I made it. And that Man crush thread is for skins players only. And I dont care if he ever wears a skins uni or not, I give layers their respect when they have earned it and to say he had 3 good games as a senior shows you have NO idea what you are talking about. He has been playing consistant for 2+ years. How can you just say he only had 3 good games? And a workout warrior wouldnt be able to do those drills as good as he did. And he doesnt care where he gets picked, he just cares about his future and that says alotabout him. I live in Virginia, and you live in PA. I think I know ALOT more about chris long than you do. You still havent given a valid reason to why he's overrated though
