It's depressing me to talk about the skins slide so let's talk a little about the future.

Haynesworth is tops in the NFL at his position. He's going to get a record deal. This is one time where I'd be pretty happy if we spent some bucks. He's a difference maker. If it won't hinder us in the future, i'd say go for it.

I keep thinking that our line problem on defense is not personel. I think it is bad luck, coaching or scheme. I think that the Oline is a different story, they need players desperately. We need a right tackle, bad. I would like to see the team get rid of some players that have not produced. Like Springs, Griffin, Jansen, Washington, and Randel El. I think they hinder us for one reason or another, such as finacialy(Jansen, Washington, Griffin, Randel El, and Springs), always injured(Jansen, Washington, Griffin, and Springs), and not worth the money we pay them and always underperforming when healthy(Jansen, Washington, Griffin, and Randel El).
I would also like to see them find a way to sign Dre Moore of the Tampa Bay practice Squad. He is huge, had alot of sacks and had one of the best combines of any DT last year. Tampa Bay has alot of talent on the Dline and could not find room for him, this year.

BL is that we will need to spend some of our highest draft picks and some FA dollars to improve both our OL and DL. We need talent, speed and youth.

Both of our lines are getting old, which causes the deterioration we see later in the season.

Last season Vinny went for the flash with 2 WR and a TE. Now we need to go for the trenches and hope the WR we picked this season start to pan out.

I wish they provided some flash.

Maybe some body glitter to attrack the eyes of the OLINE. Than, they can flirt their way past them.

The quick answer is no. Good O and D lineman don't become available until they are no longer good, generally.

Draft, Draft, Draft!!!

I think a lot of people are mistaking a lack of exucution from this team as a lack of talent; I'd argue that we have a fair amount of young talent on this team but we need more, and we need it desperately on the O-line. I think Zorn and the players just need another year to work out the kinks, if our trio from last year can get their s#*+ together and we have a good draft next offseason I think this team will develop into a real contender.

Unfortunately we're still going to be duking it out with the likes of DAL and NY, but we're not too far off as it is and if we develop our young talent we could certainly catch up. NY seems to have done a great job drafting the past few years, especially on that D-line, we have to hope we can do the same.

That said, Haynesworth is a beast. I'd be totally on board for that move, but even if we do manage to sign him I'd still look to draft DL. IMHO we only really have 3 areas of needs . . . aside from wr, we gotta hope the boys'll pan out, we simply can't justify landing another wr . . . OL, DL, and LB. If we improve just the O-line we're a good team. We improve both OL and DL, we're a very good team; and if this years rooks can finally step up, and contribute ANYTHING we're a great team.

Hail to the future!!

i agree with all said...haynesworth would be worth the money. BUT In the draft i would look for a dynamic lb to replace washington. It hasnt been the same since lavar left. EVen tho his numbers werent all pro he was all over the field until lindsay and gibbs ruined him

Good post and I agree. You are not going to get any good lineman via free agency because they get wrapped in long term deals until they are no longer that good. It's called draft, which is something we don't so. Same thing with defensive line. The Redskins are one of the only franchises in the NFL that has a disdain and aversion to drafting Lineman.

I think if we signed Jordan Gross and let him play left tackle, we could move Samuels to the Right, extending his career and having an all pro left tackle to back up the left tackle. I think this would dramaticaly improve our Oline, assuming that Samuels can play right tackle.

I would not break the bank on Haynesworth . He is playing great now because he is in the last year of his contract . Give him 25 million up front , he might not be so motivated to get up and workout everyday . As far as our lack of a pass rush , our front 4 have no explosiveness , it has nothing to do with scheme on 3rd and 10 . We need an end and DT as well as help on the OL .

Let's just Draft "Mount" Cody from alabama, he's exactly what we need in the middle of the dline. I think our ends are fine but they always get double covered because our interior pass rush is so weak.

I'm starting to get the impression that Blache would rather have a pass rushing linebacker then an elite DE. If thats true I would look out for Suggs assuming the Ravens don't franchise him.

Time to get rid of M. Washington and S. Springs. I like them both and they have been great assets to our team but with their constant injuries they are hurting us more than helping.

I think we need to use the draft as a way to build back our lines.
