Re: Positions Which Need to Be Addressed

1. QB (1st round)
2. cover linebacker (2nd round)
3. another linebacker (3rd)

rocky needs to be replaced, fletch's replacement must be in house next year as i think he will be 37 after next season. i dont think kerrigan or orakpo can take over as the QB of our defense so we need to sign another fletch type player or draft one.

i dont think you can ever have enough guys who protect and rush the passer. to use a high value commodity to upgrade the corner position would be a luxury imo right now.

Offensive Line depth. 9 sacks is unacceptable especially against a team that until recently relied on Aaron Maybin to generate pressure.

Many of those sacks would not have happened if Beck had not held the ball so long and/or not used his mobility to run into defenders. But yeah, we still need OL help.

O line and QB. Without decent protection it wont matter how good the QB is because he wont have any time to do anything.

Re: Positions Which Need to Be Addressed

Almost every position on this roster is in dire need of long-term players and quality depth. Only exceptions I see are the positions occupied by Kerrigan, Davis, Trent, Jarvis Jenkins and Orakpo.

So, embrace BPA!!!!!

Re: Positions Which Need to Be Addressed

Guys I just don't think this is the year to draft a QB. Next years class will be a lot better.

I mean lets look at the prospects

Andrew Luck - Not as a prospect for us to draft but his availability might affect who falls to us. Anyway it seems like a good chance that he could come out. He'll have his degree and could easily have a national championship by years end. Then again he might not be enamored about the prospect of sitting behind Peyton for 3 or 4 years so he might stay in school.

Landry Jones - All but out of the title hunt. I said before that he would be a likely candidate to go back if they didn't win a national title and now it looks like that will be put to the test. Plus he saw his buddy Bradford go 1st overall despite being injured early in the year so having an injury affect his draft stock probably won't concern him to much.

Matt Barkley - I don't know for sure but as I've said before he is likely a lifelong USC fan (born in Southern California) that likely comes from money (~$40k tuition to go to his high school for 4 years) so going to the draft isn't a priority. Plus you have Andrew Luck leaving the PAC 12 the NCAA ban being lifted (something Barkley has apparently been looking forward to) and a team thats played pretty damn well in spite of the ban (would probably be top 10 right now). Also remember he didn't split and played a big role in encouraging key players to stay and wait out the ban so the team would be ready for 2013.

Robert Griffin III - Don't know to much about him but everyone says he's a very bright kid. To me that usually means schools a priority which would increase the likelihood of him staying but again I don't know a lot of specifics about his situation (SS33 that's your cue).

You got the right. This is one of the poorest qb classes we have ever seen. I don't see not one guy worthy of drafting in the first round. We should wait until 2013.

If Shanahan wants to lose his job he'll wait till 2013. He needs to draft a QB next year, no ifs or buts.

1. QB
2. RB
3. OL
4. CB
5. LB
6. WR
7. DE

Hard to address this all in one offseason, but you have to try.

Re: Positions Which Need to Be Addressed

I completely agree with those who think that QB should be our first priority.

Forget Luck. There are other teams that are doing a much better job of sucking for Luck than we could ever do. But I think we can still get a good QB in the draft. I like Landry Jones and Matt Barkley is growing on me. We might possibly be able to pick up Flynn as a FA, if the brain trust likes him enough. I honestly feel that we're going to be alright at QB in the not too distant future.

I also agree that the OL should be our second priority. The one thing that I don't agree with others about (and perhaps this is a fine point) is the POV that we need OL depth. That's because I think that we already have OL depth. What we lack is the quality starters we need for our OL.

Trent will be fine. I like Montgomery at C. The others make for decent backups. I thought that Jammal Brown would come on this season in his second year following a major injury but it seems that he lacks the lateral quickness to start at RT. I'd say we need to find a starter at RT and at least one quality G.

My fantasy is that we have an offseason like the Skins had in 1981 when they added Mark May, Joe Jacoby, and Russ Grimm to the OL.

Bobby Beathard is out there and available...
