Re: Cowher Talking to Skins about Job in '08?

As for the reality of Cowher and his return to the NFL. One, lets consider his salary that he will be looking at. Probably somewhere in the 6 to 7 mill per year range. There are only about 5 or 6 teams in the league that can afford a coaches salary that is that high....and three of those teams are in the NFC East. Washington, Dallas and Philly. If there is any truth to this (which I highly doubt) than I would not be surprised to see Cowher roaming the Washington sidelines in '08. |

After looking at the link at the bottom, it says PFT.com......total shit! Somebody farts and they report it as news or rumor. After looking at the source I truthfully don't put one ounce of merit in this BULLSHIT RUMOR! Still like BC....as a coach of any team. But this is JUNK!

i like cowher. good, successful coach...
but for some inexplicable reason, i'd prefer to not have him in DC. maybe it isn't even the preseason, but still... no cowher! |

Re: Cowher Talking to Skins about Job in '08?
Unless our D is stellar like in "05 Williams isn't going to be such a hot commodity. He already had a crappy short tenure at Buffalo, so he has that hanging over his head. Cowher is a proven winner, still relatively young and the guy that can get us to the promised land. I love coach Gibbs, but when he did come back I know it wasn't going to be for that long. Either way I see coach taking a hike after this season. If we don't make the playoffs, he will split as he does not have the time for a longer rebuilding process, and if we do make the playoffs he can retire vindicated. Saunders might get pissed, but if we falter this season again offensively, he can take that 700+ and go somewhere else. Gibbs offense thus far is way superior.

Re: Cowher Talking to Skins about Job in '08?
Never know Skins, there could be some merit to it. BC might have just needed a break from Pittsburgh, or saw that the party was coming to an end there. Coach Gibbs is probably going to step down soon and Williams already had a failing grade at Buffalo. Of course he is more loaded here, but still, not sure he is HC material. Don't know about Saunders either. His first year offense sucked. Gibbs offense was great, wide open etc during Gibbs I. Wish we could go back to that.

Re: Cowher Talking to Skins about Job in '08?
the skins will be the first team in the history of the nfl to have a true
"SPLIT" or "co" head coaches. saunders for offense and williams for defense. no more single headcoach.

Disagree. We all know who the Headcoach is, and so do GW & AS, and the rest of the staff. There is no split there, most ALL teams have a D- coach. & O-coach, last time I checked. I'm quite sure every coach and staff member knows who the real boss is besides DANNY BOY....JOE

Re: Cowher Talking to Skins about Job in '08?
I would rather us hire GW as head coach. We don't need Cowher one damn bit. Cowher is just trying to get paid cause he was under paid in Pittsburgh. If he coached here that means he is going to try and change the defense to a 3-4 so there would be an adjustment period. We would have to get players to try and fit that scheme. Plus he would probably overhaul the offensive coaches. That would mean JC learning another offense. Hire from within. We have two coordinators who are more than qualified to be head coaches. They have both been head coaches. Hell, they make more than alot of head coaches. You mean to tell me that you pay two guys a shit load of money to be coordinators yet you are afraid to let them be head coaches? That makes no sense to me. If GW isn't here then let AS coach the team.

Re: Cowher Talking to Skins about Job in '08?
Speculation is interesting.
Reality is another thing entirely. Redskins are blessed with the 2nd coming of Joe Gibbs. Restoring my faith in Redskins football and validating Snyder's ownership. Gibbs will work out the length of his contract unless of health issues (only 2 years). Cowher might choose to sit out another year in an attempt to get the Redskins job. Which would probably be his against candidates as Saunders and Williams. Ofcourse after the 2k5 season I was convinced Williams would be Gibbs successor. Now that's uncertain. Fortunately we'll all get to see 2k7 and how that plays out!!!

Re: Cowher Talking to Skins about Job in '08?
If Gibbs decides to move on after this season, who cares what GW and Al feels? Cower is a very good coach, one of the best in history. He has an average of 10 wins a season, and in the NFC that is a definate playoff birth maybe a division title. He did far more with less talent than what we have seen with our over paid roster. If we had a chance to land him, I dont see why any Redskin fan would be against it. The guy is a proven winner. Multiple playoff births, two superbowl runs, several deep playoff runs and a superbowl title. My guess is if Gibbs does return next year (at this point i could really care less) then Cower will go to Carolina. Fox has worn out his welcome and if he has another sub par year then he will be out. My point about caring less if Gibbs returns is it seems to be really no change in our franchise. 1 playoff birth, several overpaid questionable moves, and two losing seasons. seems to be the norm over the past 10 years. I love Gibbs, have been a die hard for my whole 33 years, but if he doesn't make a noticable change this season, then why keep him here. He will never be fired, he will be asked to take a front office type gig or consultant gig of some sort. I dont know, but I am sure there are a lot of REdskin fans that are sick of losing every damn year, even if Gibbs is the coach.
