I am still convinced that our struggles in Gibbs II, and for the past decade, stem from the lack of a quality QB. JC looks promising, but his turnovers at inopportune times have been fatal to our season. I am convinced that as JC gets more experience, he will play better football and so will our team. And our future success will have a lot less to do with coaching than JC getting experience and securing the ball better. This season, the injuries just compound JC's inexperience. The right tackle ......gone. The right guard......gone. The #1 corner.....frequently banged up. The #2 corner......gone. Sean Taylor missed the past few weeks and teams exploited our inexperienced safeties. And now, Sean has passed away. That's the right side of the line and 3/4 of the secondary, not to mention injuries to guys like Griffin, Rabach, Smoot, Washington, Daniels, ARE, Moss, and less important guys like Thrash. I know people say, "the injury excuse gets old." I don't accept that kind of statement. Either they are tired of the injuries but accept the reality that having a large numbers of injured players really hurt our team OR they don't accept that injuries of this order really affect our play. |

Re: Who called the 2nd timeout?
It really only bothers me when people want to dismiss 2005 when those same people aren't quick to dimsiss our free agent moves in 2000 for example.
As for Gibbs, stupid mistake. He knows it, you know it, I know it. But I am not going to apologize for being a fan of his, and wanting him to stay as long as he wants to stay. In all honesty, he probably never should have come back in the first place. There's nothing he really could have done to improve his image with the fans. He had nowhere to go reputation wise but down. I believe we have the makings of a great QB who is going to lead us to great things long after Gibbs is gone. But no one will ever be appreciative of Gibbs for that.

Re: Who called the 2nd timeout?
The skins are doing what they always do late in the fourth quarter, running out of gas and having a meltdown before losing the game, gibbs need to go back to racing I don't see any improvements at all with his coaching style, and Al Saunders is not helping matters any either, he needs to burn that so-called playbook of his, it ain't helping em win games like it should. What are they gonna do against chicago? The team motto should be Maybe Next Year!

Re: Who called the 2nd timeout?
They were going to make the FG anyway. Their kicker is money and stroked the first one through no problem.
The game to me boiled down to another week of redzone ineffectiveness. You can't keep kicking FGs, even if we just got one TD it would have been different game. |

Re: Who called the 2nd timeout?
wrong...And guys...How many years had joe gibbs been out the league? he was never faced with this before.
U and me probably would of forgot to and btw I don't remember that ever happpening cannot call time outs back to back.......and if it was the rule then he shouldn't of been penalized they should of just been like hey you can't do that. BTW I know hs isn't the NFL and neither is college but Ive seen that done in the NCAA and in CIF play....Im calling bs till I see that rule in writing. and wasn't it a 52 yard attempt? how in the hell is a penalty ever 12 yards to make it a 30. Ive heard of 5 yards and 10 yards and 15 yards...NEVER 12! This isn't all gibbs fault and our mediocre season is not just gibbs fault. Who's idea was it to bring in Saunders!? I call for his head everytime I see our offense screw up I been screaming it since last year..Gibbs 2.0 DID not fail Saunders 1.0 did Go ahead cuss me out about this...but Why is it Gibbs's offense made a 30 something year old qb look good why is it no other coach other than george allen and norv turner has had near the success that gibbs has had?? Go ahead and turn your back on Joe and bring in another steve spurrier....Im not turning my back on the old man just yet...Dan reeves had to take some time to readjust to the nfl So did Bill parcells. And just because a team is 12-0 does not mean that they are going to win the super bowl, 11-1 doesn't mean there going to win either...I seem to recall a certain 8-8 team that plays in baltimore winning it all one year. You guys want a perfect season out of gibbs you got to remember all those times we were good we werent perfect. What was our record in 82? Someone find me the rule that says that back to back timeouts are illegal...Please... |

Re: Who called the 2nd timeout?
It seems like anytime an opponent needs a big play with the game on the line the D gives it up. But then again I can't get too upset with them, the offense should have put this game away in the first half.

I don't like Joe Gibbs any less because of this second tenure. He got our owner to stop meddling, got us some great players including a franchise QB, got us a playoff win, and brought stability to an organization that was in disarray. But for a myriad of reasons it just hasn't really come together on the field. It's unfortunate because he's a great man and a great coach, but as far as wins vs losses it just hasn't worked out.

Re: Who called the 2nd timeout?
Unless you have a different version of Madden than I do, you can't. Try to call 2 consecutive timeouts. Amazingly, I didn't know of the rule until I played Madden. I was playing Madden, had called a timeout, then called the wrong play and tried to use my other timeout, Madden wouldn't let me, I was pissed, and looked up the rule.
As you may not know, I am a big Gibbs supporter, but that was a bad, bad call. |

Re: Who called the 2nd timeout?
I agree the O should have put this game away in the 1st half but going into this season I think most thought having essentially a rookie QB would make the O a bit suspect but the D would be great. IMO that meant the D had to do the heavy lifting and often cover for the O. So far they havent done that. In a lot of ways I blame the D more for this loss and most of the losses this season because they were expected to be the reliable aspect of this team and they have not lived up to that expectation.
