Re: Most likely to be back with the team next year?
they say he's a moody dude. I worry that he's got TO like attention issues, only lacks TO productivity. I saw he & Rogers interviewed on comcast at a wizards game. Rogers sounded dumb, Loyd sounded articulate & much like a gentleman. I think he's been good at making 1st impressions, but when your own teamates are willing to speak negatively about you to the press, that's never good.

Who cares they both suck. Way to go Gibbs, Litttle Danny and the Vinster. Great moves as usual. Boy I cant wait until this march and april so we can win the offseason super bowl again. Instead of the real super bowl.

Lloyd may have already overstayed his welcome in one season. Patten will likely return next year, so we are set if we need to release Lloyd. He certainly didn't outplay Patten and probably won't be any more valuble for us down the road. If he stays, it should only be for financial purposes.

For as much flak as the CBs caught this year, we actually defended no. 1 WRs pretty well (all things considered) despite some interesting coverage calls. Where we got torched is by 2nd and 3rd recievers and espicially RBs out of the backfield. This says that neither our safeties or linebackers can cover a lick. Carlos Rogers is fine and our CB problems go no further than injury issues. We need a true MLB though to fix the RB coverage issue.

Re: Most likely to be back with the team next year?
Well here's what ESPN says about both these guys,
"Redskins sources think Joe Gibbs would like to bring back both SS Adam Archuleta and WR Brandon Lloyd, despite both having miserable seasons for different reasons. The team might be able to adjust its salary-cap situation enough with other cuts and reworked deals to bring both back." this sounds really weird unless they still think AA could possibly play the safety position again, maybe he learned that you shouldn't let opposing recievers behind you. there's also on previous redskins coaches Bengals WR coach Hue Jackson was respected and liked by his players, and he worked well with WR Chris Henry. Jackson has moved on to Atlanta to become the Falcons' offensive coordinator, and there's a feeling that the Bengals were fortunate to have had a coach of his caliber in the fold for three seasons.

Re: Most likely to be back with the team next year?
I voted for "neither" because that would the best thing for the team.
Archuletta can't play in this system with Sean Taylor as the other safety. Lloyd is an over-rated, self-absorbed waste of skin that shouldn't be on any team in the league. Oh, I'm sorry; that's awfully harsh and I wouldn't want to bruise his self-esteem. Lloyd is simply useless!

When was Arch a LB? He played here for ASU as a SS. He played for the Rams as a SS, and he tried to play for us last year in a safety position. BTW I hope he's gone, I rather have Bowen instead. Hail 44 |

Re: Most likely to be back with the team next year?
First post. Love the site and fresh opinions.
Switching Archeleta to LB is an intriguing idea but personally I have been never been real high on moves like that. I omit that I have no knowledge of Archeleta prior to being the Rams 1st round pick a few years back. Hearing from the post above that he played LB in college, I looked to confirm and found this: A former walk-on at Arizona State, Archuleta played four years, starting the last three as a linebacker and recorded 330 tackles, 14 sacks, five forced fumbles, and six fumble recoveries. He ranks fourth on the Sun Devils’ all-time list with 54 stops behind the line of scrimmage and fifth on the all-time list of career solo tackles with 202. Archuleta was named the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the All-Pac-10 Conference first-team as a senior. He led the team with 127 tackles. As a junior, he was named to the All-Pac-10 Conference first-team and was named the team’s Most Valuable Player. As a student at Arizona State University, Archuleta majored in interdisciplinary studies/secondary education. At Chandler High School in Chandler, Arizona, he earned first-team all-central region, was named all-state honorable mention and also named all-valley as a defensive back and running back. He also earned Most Valuable Player honors for the 1996 All-Hispanic team. - Finding out how successful he was playing the position in college make perfect sense trying to convert him back to LB. GW has said in past interviews he likes to convert DB into LBs to increase the range of the position for his schemes. |
