This is one of the more sensible posts on this topic. Firing Gruden would not help. It would only set us back. Most, if not all, of the complaints about Gruden are minor, IMO, and many of them are fixable. Let's look at the big picture.

1. This team plays hard for Jay Gruden.

2.We started the year as a much improved team but we were decimated by injuries - many serious injuries to key players. Sometimes, if there are too many injuries, then injuries are a valid excuse.

3. We were one dropped pass and one bad penalty call away from possibly two more wins against tough teams on the road and we beat Seattle at their place.

4. Kirk Cousins has shown that he can lead 4th quarter comebacks. He dueled Drew Brees even up. He continues to improve as an NFL QB. It would be foolish to take him out of an offense he knows like the back of his hand. Don't forget that the FO stuck Kirk with a huge downgrade at both WR positions to start the season.

5. I think we're on the right path with the addition of some solid FA vets and numerous promising young players. The young players are being developed by a mostly solid coaching staff.

6. This team is nowhere near a disaster. It could be a very good team soon. We must not go back to square one.

7. Finally, clear you mind for one moment and ponder who would be making the HC hiring decision if Jay Gruden were fired. Got it? OK. I rest my case.

Agreed 100%
I also think some of the costly mistakes can go away if this teams starts viewing itself like a solid one that deserves winning and players have a stronger and deeper confidence in themselves and what they can achieve.
The Saints game alone shows me a team that has tremendous potential (even with the injuries) but isn't mentally ready to win big games.

I also think some of these late game F*&k Ups are because we have no depth with all our injuries. Seems we play hard starting the game and we just can't keep it up with little rotation for 4 qtrs.

All really good points. Let's be honest, with the injury situation, we are in a precarious position. When healthy, and even sometimes when not, we can play with anyone. The Eagles didn't blow us out (the second game was particularly close), we hung with the Vikings and Saints until the last minute or so, and the Chiefs as well (looking less impressive now). Beating Seattle in Seattle is no small feat (just ask the Eagles). This team seems like it is trending in the right direction despite DS and BA.

Our special teams are bad and have been bad for long enough that one has to think a coaching change there is not unrealistic. But defense started strong (but injuries have been brutal) and offense is punching above its weight when considering no legit 1WR, no legit RB, and a TE1 who is chronically injured.

Does Gruden have room for improvement? Of course. I'd like to see a better use of timeouts, halftime adjustments, and making better use of certain player skills (e.g., why aren't we throwing to Vernon Davis more often?). But no team is likely do perform well with 1/3 on IR and another 1/3 walking wounded. We have lacked consistency as an organization for too long; let's give Gruden a little more time, I'd say.

the last bit about gruden has been true for years though so it worries me in regards to the room for improvement, that he hasn't really made any noticeable strides by way of the eye test...

I wonder who has been helping Jay to develop as a HC.

I said no but I will say that I hate how his teams play early in the season. Sometimes they look like they are still in preseason mode and it pisses me off.

You don't fire the man with this many injuries. I don't feel he's going to take us over the top, but he certainly doesn't need to be fired given our situation this year.

I’d fire the training staff long before Jay and company.
