Who is available next year (qb)?

OK, assuming Brunell continues to suck, and Campbell is not the answer (hoping that's not the case, but humor me) who is scheduled to be a free agent, or possibly available via trade (realistically) come season's end?

doesn't matter. Next year it's either MB or JC. That is as stone cold of a lock as possible.

I completely disagree. None of us thought Brunell would suck this hard, call it a hard play book, call it over the hill syndrome, but sucking is sucking. It is not a far fetched idea to think of Campbell sucking as well. Remember Ramsey?
So who will be available next year?

If Campbell does suck he will suck next year. There is not a single thing he could do performance wise to convince the coaches that he isn't going to be good. Even if Brunell goes down for the season this week and JC steps in and blows hard JC still gets the job next year. No doubt. He couldn't suck bad enough to lose the job for next year. Not possible.

if we go get someone else, and its not just a back up role...then this organization is run by a bunch of idiots

How so?
We have had one constant issue since our previous super bowls...lack of a decent QB.
Minus Brad Johnson, we have had no good leaders. I'd love to see Campbell succeed, but if he can't, we need to entertain the thought of a proven good QB. The odds of winning without one is slim.

It's funny though...two of those QBs since playing for us took their team to the Super Bowl, and one of them won it (and was the MVP if I'm not mistaken.)

Rich Gannon, Brad Johnson, and Trent Green have all played here since then. Not all were in the prime of their careers, but it's not like we haven't had that kind of talent. Brunell is right up there with those guys in terms of career production.

Well, we got Rich Gannon before he "got it".
I think we all remember saying "what?" after we got rid of Trent Green, then the next day we picked up Brad Johnson. Johnson had a hell of a season and was run out of town when Snyder was in his "no patience" phase. Luckily, Snyder has come out of that.
My wife still gives me a hard time about Johnson. When he first came on the scene in Washington I said he would win a super bowl. I was right, but wrong team.

Alrighty guys, see you tomorrow, it's off to work.

this thread is lame. Campbell is the future for at least the next 2 seasons. Administrators you should lock this thing up.

I agree that Campbell is the future and we are unlikely to bring in/trade for a high-priced quarterback. I also think it's way too early to start discussing next offseason's moves. That said, this thread has elicited enough interest to draw a lot of replies so it's apparently worth keeping open.

Re: Who is available next year (qb)?

Wow, ARE as qb??? That's reaching, so might as well call Tom Tupa back for an audition. haha

Well, I think we can all agree Brunell has, at best, this season left, then it's Campbells job.
If Campbell stinks up the place this year, then I would still like to see us go get a great qb via trade. (no FA's look good enough to take a chance on over Campbells potential IMO).

I am inclined to agree with your assesment, based on all the investment in JC it wouldn't seem logical the team would be looking for anything in a QB that was not of the back-up variety. At some point we must see what Campbell can do, and we can't just dismiss him without giving him that opportunity.
