Re: Predict the 2013 53 Man Opening Day Roster
Also you're adding some guys that are PUP'ed right now, they don't count towards our final 53 (Hurt, Carriker) and some suspended guys as well (Jarvis Jenkins, Rob Jackson, Tanard Jackson). Thats 5 spots that we can use preseason stars for (not named Pat White)

![]() As for your edits: I wouldn't be mad if we kept 4 TE's. Obviously, Davis and Reed are going nowhere, and Paulsen or Paul getting cut would be a surprise. But with as many wide receivers as I had, I figured Paul was the lone expendable. La Ribs? I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he was cut. Royster, in my opinion, is as good as gone. He's shown us what he can do, and it's not all that much. Keeping Jamison or Thompson would be a much better option. Burdette's a tackling machine. If he's not on the 53-man roster, we have to stash him on the practice squad. I wouldn't be surprised if they give him a roster spot so he can learn off Fletcher and Riley in games. Some of these UDFAs you just somehow take a liking to, and you hope they make it(even if they're not always the best option ![]() Skye Dawson's been our best punt returner so far, and he's looked good in camp as a receiver(or so the reports have been). I don't know if that's enough, but I hope he makes it. |

There is no way in hell we are going with only 2 QBs. No way, no how. Kirk is even hurt right now.

1. We are goin to keep 4 TE's, though it would be sad to cut talent b/c lack of Safety depth. 2. MHurt is hurt but I hope he can return by start of season or cut LeRibeus when he does return. 3. Baker is playing DE and filling in nicely for Jenkins 4. Carriker simply needs to be put on IR. the team is moving on and he needs a year off b/c he is simply a weight room athlete, too brittle to compete. 5. Backup center Matthews has greatly disappointed. I thought he could/ would be more but not so and Kory is now the backup center. 6. I fear the biggest gamble or possible blessing is to keep 1 NT in Coffield, cut Nield, and have Baker w/ Golston starting to play DE until Jenkins returns. Baker gives us flexibility and offers another tight decision to keep a 5th safety which is a growing concern. IMO. **d'oh, my theory is broken b/c of suspended players Jenkins/Jackson. I guess that's a good thing as it gives some roster options. |

Re: Predict the 2013 53 Man Opening Day Roster
What about the possibility of keeping Grossman through the first four games ad cutting him once we a. Get our guys back from suspension and b. get a better feel for the overall health of our top two guys on the QB depth chart.

I'm still not quite sure how our cap is going to handle those two coming back. Once we get to counting the 53+practice squad, we are going to be real tight cap wise, especially since the IR guys count too (I think). Good time to mention Over the Cap - NFL salary cap, contracts, and more again, as the next week to 10 days will be critical for the Skins in terms of cap space. Here are the bottom 6 teams (I went to 6 because it includes Mara's Giants and that makes me laugh!), and the Rams have zilch geez. Giants.......$113,638,715......$2,828,982 Bears .......$122,389,404......$2,602,747 Redskins....$103,164,605......$1,322,985 Texans......$121,281,302......$1,277,816 Chiefs.......$121,389,765........$288,205 Rams .......$111,114,602.........$90,930 |

Re: Predict the 2013 53 Man Opening Day Roster
My Latest 53:
ST (3): Forbath, Sundberg, Rocca Offense (26): QB (3): RGIII, Cousins, Grossman RB (4): Morris, Helu, K. Williams, Thompson FB (1): Young WR (5): Garcon, Morgan, Moss, Hankerson, Robinson TE (4): Davis, Paulson, Paul, Reed OL (9): T. Williams (T), Polumbus (T), Compton (T), Pashos (T), Montgomery (C/G), Liechtenstieger (G/C), Chester (G), LeRib (G/C), Gettis (G) Defense (24):DL (6): Cofield, Baker, Golston, Mehrling, Bowen, Nield ILB (4): Fletcher, Riley, Kehl, Barnett OLB (4): Rak, Kerrigan, Tapp, Jenkins CB (5): Hall, Wilson, Amerson, Minnifield, Biggers S (5): Merriweather, Doughty, Rambo, Pugh, Gomes PS - Lewis, Williams, Nixon, Jamison, Compton, Gumbs (is he eligible?). Two other OL or S from other team cuts. Jarvis Jenkins (DE), R. Jackson (OLB): Suspended Hurt (G/T), Carriker (DE): PUP When Jenkins and Jackson come back, Gomes gone along Nield or Mehrling (likely Mehrling) gone. IF Carriker comes off PUP (I doubt it, bet he goes to IR), whoever didn't get cut between Nield or Mehrling gone. IF Tanard cleared to play, when he returns, Pugh gone. IF Hurt comes off PUP, Pashos gone. Tough calls all around. With 4 TE's, I think the 6th WR spot a casualty. Davis, Reed and Paul all essentially buffed WR's if needed. OLine: With Compton, I think we almost have to carry 4 tackles which makes the interior tough. Do we keep Mathews (a center only) over LeRib or Gettis? If cut, I see them being snagged by someone with line issues (Oakland, Buffalo, Dallas, Arizona). I have always liked Hurt and think if he were healthy, Pashos wouldn't make the team and one of last year's rookies would be out given Hurt's versitility. When Jackson and J. Jenkins come back from suspension, it will be interesting to see if Kehl stays - I think he does and they go with 9 LB's and 6 DL which is why I have Mehrling or Nield cut. Baker doubles as a NT and DE so he provides depth at both positions. Mehrling and Nield are one position players. Nield especially so since he really doesn't have a place in a 4-3 defense. [At the same time, I think Nield is a big-time NT in the making like P.Williams was for the Ravens. In a year or two, Nield is a guy who absolutely plugs the center and is impassable in the run game. - He will be on someone's roster at the end of this year]. Safety and OLine seem to me to be our weakest spots. I am really missing the loss of P. Thomas for long term depth.

Re: Predict the 2013 53 Man Opening Day Roster
HTTR_24/7 tweeted the final roster will come in with 4 TE, 5 WR, 4 RB, and 1 FB.
Take it for what it is worth, but that is about what most have.

Re: Predict the 2013 53 Man Opening Day Roster
Joe's O looks right...hard to see where a player gets cut out of the those 26...that's problematic though leaving us only 24 spots for defense, where we're thin. At some point I think Rex does get cut because he costs a lot for a 3rd stringer and we'll just need to spot. He can be our 3rd string QB from his couch most weeks anyways.

Re: Predict the 2013 53 Man Opening Day Roster
A few questions on the line could make it interesting. Everyone assumes Pashos makes it but maybe they like Compton enough to consider him the swing tackle we need. I think Gettis is our backup C as of now. LeRib might be the one the most on the bubble. Carrying 8 OL seems risky. Having to kee the extra rb and te hurt. No way around it though.

Oline was the spot I looked at when you made your post, will that be the spot where they only keep 8 instead of 9....

Re: Predict the 2013 53 Man Opening Day Roster
I don't think Gettis has ever played center. I may be wrong.
Mathews, Pashos, Gettis and Chester are all pretty much one position players. That makes it tough to keep more than two of them given the other roster restrictions. It's also why I think Hurt gets a spot if he can play this year.
