All due respect to coach Gibbs, but I know there were some on here who wondered if the game had passed him by when he was brought out of retirement the first time.

Shanahan is probably working his way out of here. I think his chair is hot if they keep losing, and it should be. But we need to start fresh and not go get some re-tread, once upon a time coach...
I think just about all the main coaches (HC, OC, DC) would be kicked out. But then that means learning a whole new system next year. Blah.

Its getting more difficult for me to be patient with A. Robinson. Heard all kinds of good things about him at camp, but I'm seeing a lot of the same.

Yes, he's improved, but he doesn't strike me as a "natural" catcher. I'm really hoping we pull off another draft miracle and pick up a baller WR & Safety. Total shame we're still needing the same DB position, and I do believe Rambo can develop, but I'm not sure how long he will take. Hate to come out and say this, but I'm beginning to wonder if he "has it". Hope I'm wrong.

Re: Redskins Lions postgame

Nothing I have seen these first three weeks would have me come to this conclusion logically. However, after taking a step back from the emotions from the third bad loss in a row, something tells me this team is going to crush the Raiders this week.

1-3 going into the bye isn't the end of the world, but a lot more has to get cleaned up in all three phases - and consistently - for me to become optimistic about this team again.

While I am not a Haslett sympathizer I doubt we would see an improvement in play by this D with a change.

Certainly cant get worse though...literally and historically cannot get worse.
As for cowher or gruden - if there is a change made next year - i personally dont think either of them is to far removed from coaching to do it again. I think that is crazy talk. Gibbs was removed and absorbed in nascar - who knows if he even watched the games on Sunday? Probably not since it is race day. Cowher and Gruden - different story Gruden was coaching five short years ago.
That being said i agree with Okie - they arent coming back, but to say they are too removed to do so is silly imo.

4. Run the ball.

5. Bootleg more (those passes generally looked good).

6. Use more Reed, less Paulson.

7. Let Fred Davis go next year, and use the cap money we will have to shore up all of the DB positions and the OL.
That sounds like a terrible idea. You can't change defensive schemes overnight, even an entire offseason sometimes isn't enough time to get players used to the change (as evidenced by our first year running the 3-4). I think we'd pretty much be guaranteeing an abysmal defense for the entire year if we did that.

Well, the thing with guys particularly like Gruden who decide to become color analysts is that they do it in part to be able to stay involved with all the inner workings of every team just in case the opportunity comes again. Gruden gets to be "in the trenches" so to speak with two teams every week, getting access to their talent, coaches, philosophies that he couldn't otherwise. That said, no I don't want him here either

I say cut Hankerson and Robinson. They always drop the ball on third down and drop touchdowns. Its crazy, it's a 50/50 chance they catch the ball. Put Tana in the game more.

Other ways to guarantee an abysmal defense....keep playing the same.

I agree with you Rambo appears to be avoiding contact. I don't know how much you can devlope that. As a safety you should not shy away from contact. Its a part of your talent skill set. If you don'thahve that skill then safety is not the position for you.

Re: Redskins Lions postgame

Regarding this comming sundays game,

As I sit here watching the Broncos vs Raiders I'm seeing a few things, Yeah Pryor runs this option but Mcfadden isn't a option running back and as bad as our defense is I think (ain't saying much) we are better than Jacksonville. Our boys won't just lay down Sunday and quite frankly I understand this is Peyton Manning they are playing against but the Raiders have a case of the I can't cover as well. RGIII > Pryor in the pocket and yes I went there Our defense needs this game to build its confidence. Nevermind the offense though expect the scoreline to be high both defenses are terrible

One thing I hate about the 3-4 is seeing Rak and Kerrigan in coverage.

Agreed Kerrigan not so much but I feel like rak is a better Defensive tackle
