Re: Worst Mistake of the Shanahan Era
For some reason I remember it seemed unlikely Saunders would be around if GW got the HC gig. Who knows.

Re: Worst Mistake of the Shanahan Era
He dropped another pick-six in 2008, early in the Pittsburgh game that we entered with a 6-2 record. Not that his drop was the reason that we finished 8-8, but it was the first of many missed opportunities the 2nd half of that season.

Re: Worst Mistake of the Shanahan Era
I thought there was a clause in William's contract, that he got a bonus if he wasn't offered the HC job to succeed Gibbs. Any truth to that? And was Williams asking for more power than the contract clause called for, if the contract was that way?

Re: Worst Mistake of the Shanahan Era
Wow! Had no idea Williams wanted GM/EVP. And I agree he didn't deserve it.

Re: Worst Mistake of the Shanahan Era
I never heard from anyone I trust that that was true. As far as the title, I don't fault Williams for asking for it. But I think even without that request, Vinny was just too intimidated by him to have him around
