That means Lovie should be looking. Get him.

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)
Quote:
1) It's been over decade since the QB position has looked any better. Any coaching candidate has to be optimistic about RG3's future cosidering he'll have a full off-season to prepare with the knee injury well in the rear view mirror. And if something happens to him, KC has proven to plenty capable. And both are VERY YOUNG and mold-able with long careers ahead of them. And even if KC isn't part of the future plans, he should translate into an extra draft pick. 2) 21 of this year's 22 starters won the division JUST LAST YEAR. 3) There will be plenty of opportunities to upgrade the talent level and add depth with w/ a full salary cap and every draft pick available except the first rounder. In the new coaches second season and beyond, he'll have a full draft to work with. 4) MONEY - say what you want about Snyder, but he will spend on coaches. 5) Any team that isn't searching for a starting QB is NOT in full rebuild mode. If the Skins can just get to being middle of the pack in Defense and Special Teams, they can contend for the division and both are possible in just a single off-season. 6) They'll be playing a last place schedule next year. Only 2 games, but everything helps. 7) The Skins play in the worst division in the league with 2 of the 4 team's starting QBs at the tail end of their careers. 8) Offensive talent - Garcon will likely end the season as the league leader in receptions, RG3, TW, 1600 yard rusher, dynamic TE coming back. Hank time is still in the early stages of his career and could possibly take the next step next year. I think the Offense is a top 5-10 unit AS-IS, but some O-line help and maybe an upgrade at WR2 with RG3's continued development can make this a perenniel top 5 Offense. 9) The DC area and fanbase. The Redskins are one of the most valuable sports franchises IN THE WORLD. This ain't Jacksonville or some city that has to compete with baseball or basketball. The Redskins are the king of DC sports and it's not even close. You win here and you're a GOD.

People saying no one will want this job are ignorant. Only teams with crappy records look for new coaches, so they all appear to be bad jobs. The Skins HC position is as ideal as it gets.

Have fun with that. QB situation is a mess. Foster is broken down and Andre Johnson is on the back-end of his career. That's a re-build situation.

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)
All excellent point 44Deezel.
To all the Lovie doubters: If memory serves the ownership in Chicago was ultra cheap through most Lovie's tenure. I remember myriad sports observers say he didn't have a lot to work with. It makes sense looking at the minimal FA signings Chicago brought in over the years. Peppers and cutler notable exceptions, though cutler was mostly about draft picks. And I thought peppers was a risky signing. Anyway, everyone says Lovie's guys play their hearts out for him. He's no-nonsense and wise enough to not be moved around by the media BS. Even if this isn't his dream job I think he would be perfect for it if that makes sense.

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)
With O'Brien going to Houston I guess I like a Hue Jackson and Lovie Smith or Whisenhut + Russ Grim/ Rex Ryan combination. Mike Shanahan may be here next year with Kubiak.
$13 Million is a lot of money to lose. Not to mention the $6mil that the skins would have to pay to Penn State for O'Brien and then the cost for his staff and him. Too much cost. He may not ever have been a option for the skins.

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)
Why is everyone taking this obrien to Houston talk at face value? There is no reason for this report to come out, other than if it's not true and one of the parties involved is trying to push a third party in a certain direction. For example, Houston leaks this story to pressure Lovie smith into signing their best offer. Or, obriens camp leaks this story to get some other team to up their offer. If anything, this report makes me think it's highly unlikely obrien is close to a deal with Houston.

Reports already been refuted. Texans are interviewing multiple candidates next week.
