This is a "a potentially franchise changing draft", you say? First, that remains to be seen. Second, so what? I think we had a franchise changing draft two years ago when we got RGIII.

If, as you say, RGIII is going to develop and no one will regret the trade the Skins made for him, then how could the trade that landed RGIII have been a bad idea?

Trading three top 40 picks to move up four spots is pretty brutal, no? It's a pretty extreme example of betting on oneself: i.e. we will be so good after/because of this trade that we won't feel the cost of doing business (i.e. the loss of picks). It's the same gamble that Seattle made in acquiring Percy Harvin --> we're giving up a ton of value but this player improves us too much to pass on. It's not a great idea, but if your organization can cash the check, it can work out for you.

Seattle is super bowl champs. We're 3-13. Guess who won their gamble? Guess who is (not) picking second in the draft?

You can't build a franchise on bad decisions. Doesn't mean you can't ever make aggressive moves. As Seattle proves, you can. Problem is, if you don't know what you are doing, you get exposed pretty quickly. The Skins didn't really know what they were doing. They got exposed. We can all move on now.

IMO Quake is right when he says that Bobby Gryphon easily would be the first pick in this draft.

Griffin is undervalued across the league right now because of Shanahan stench, but he was overvalued on draft day. In another draft cycle, I don't think people would have been as optimistic about him as they were. He's a first round quarterback in any draft the last 20 years, but the teflon nature of his draft stock was unique to his Heisman campaign. If he comes out a year before or a year later, he gets graded more critically.

Two years ago, negative things said about him rolled right off of him. This town has changed the narrative. Negativity sticks to him now.

Unfortunately for the Redskins, the only choices they had was to pay the additional price for the overvalued stock, or to not get the player. There wasn't a middle ground.

Depends on the offense. If a team wanted to run our 2012 offense then RG3 is your guy. A pro offense? Bridgewater hands down.

It was a total act of pure desperation. It wasn't a good trade then and certainly not now. But what's done is done. This is a huge year for RG3. Let's hope Gruden coaches him up, the FO gets him some help and hopefully he bounces back strong.

I honestly don't understand what you are trying to say. You're talking in circles.

Just answer this: If RGIII develops into the the type of QB that doesn't cause anyone to regret the trade for him, then what is the problem?

If RGIII becomes a Top 5 NFL QB, then he'll be worth all of those picks because Franchise QB's don't grow on trees.

Plan A: Trade up to get RGIII.

Plan B: Hope to get lucky and find a Top 5 QB somewhere, somehow, some way, sometime in the future.

I'll take Plan A and never look back.

I don't know how Manziel is going to act once he's drafted and starts getting paid. All I know is he was dominant against some of the best defenses in college ball.

Manziel is just like RG3 he is going to have to learn to not take big hits and not always take off when plays break down.

Manziel does come from money so I don't think that should be a problem for him.

Now the fame and all the rest will be bigger. That is what may or may not be a problem for him.
