New Orleans Saints to release Darren Sproles - NFL.com
I would take Sproles in a heartbeat. Change of pace back and return guy - Baam!

Still think he should have won the Heisman in '03.

I agree with no Giovanni Bernard on our roster or a true returner I wonder if Sproiles is on our radar. I know MS had interest in him a couple of years ago but I don't know if that carries over to the FO which is still in place.

well there are 3 great returners sitting in the FA pool right now, and i'd love to grab one of them. i really don't care who it is either, cause we're terrible there.

Filling two needs with one player would be a big plus for the team this year. With so many areas that need an influx of talent and depth a two position player makes sense.

Would love to see sproles on the team. Saints tripping a little with that move. I would imagine he will get a lot of interest.

They are clearing a lot of space and maybe they know a little more than us.

Saints are pretty close to empty at cap space, think they needed that boost to get over the edge.

Re: How do we fix Special Teams?

The Saints had a terrible salary structure and needed to make a lot of these moves, but that's a team that isn't exactly built to carry Drew Brees deep into his thirties. Seattle showed that Jimmy Graham can be stopped if you hit him enough times at the line, and there's not a whole lot on that roster beyond Brees and Graham.

It's a rebuilding roster that may need to go through a bad season before committing to rebuild.

If Graham appeals his FT position and wins then they are more like 1-3 million under.

Re: How do we fix Special Teams?

I know. We could hire a middling coordinator off of another team and entrust him with the job...

Definitely! There seems to be a weak market for FA RBs, so he shouldn't break the bank.

If we get him, do we keep Helu?

Absolutely! The tough part may be finding a way to get all three RBs involved, or moreso, which one do we use behind Alfmo?

Helu is too talented to get rid of though, a very valuable backup but Sproles could help this team a lot with his returning skills and offensive contributions.

There is no such thing as too many weapons and we are thin at RB as it is. We have only Morris and Helu basically, with Royster and Jamison gone and Chris Thompson a non-factor.

Re: How do we fix Special Teams?

Another released Saints player we should consider is Lance Moore.

I agree with others than Mccluster first came to mind, if reports are true and we got sproles he would be able to contribute there. Even though I'm iffy on that signing.
