Especially with the first game, when the starters barely play. If Brady played, he might take something like 10 snaps - big deal.

Final scores don't matter in preseason, but individual performances mean a lot.

To a degree they do. But when a scrub QB, RB, WR, etc. tears it up in the 4th qtr against other scrubs, that's the kind of getting carried away I'm talking about. I'm talking about Pat White syndrome.

It seems every year that preseason's leaders in passing and/or rushing and/or receiving never make a squad. So even most individual performances don't mean much outside of the appreciation of the coaching staff...unless you are a degenerate gambler.
