Re: Is Brian Orakpo career as a Redskin possibly over
Yea he needed to stay healthy to keep that stock up. We always hold players a season too long, we should have let him walk this year.

Does Orakpo even play for us now? I hadn't noticed. Apparently he plays the "invisible linebacker" position.

It has to be over here. Just hasn't produced what was expected of him. As for being a 4-3 end, he played that position in college so it wouldn't be a stretch for him to start playing it again now.
Trial by fire time might be in order for Trent Murphy. |

Most overrated player on the roster. Kerrigan is a far more impactful player. Thankfully the FO didn't commit to Rak beyond this season.

Re: Is Brian Orakpo career as a Redskin possibly over
Brian Orakpo took up $11.46 million of our salary cap this season. We could have gotten a RT and Safety for that. What a shame. Safety and RT HAS to be addressed this off season. No more excuses.
If a good defensive coordinator becomes available this off season, I think it might be time to part ways with Haslett as well. His defense has not played well. |

Y'all are cray. And harsh. Resigning Orakpo to a cheap deal makes sense. Nobody will overpay anf he'll work hard for another contract. Too easy.

Rak isn't going to sign for a cheap deal. He was wanting in the area of 13mil/yr this off-season. This is going to turn out just like Carlos Rogers.

Maybe. Hard to see another franchise paying based his performance so far. He could make a great value player finally.

He doesn't want to sign for a cheap deal, just like he didn't want to get the franchise tag. IMO if he indeed tore another pec there is no chance he gets any sort of long term deal. He is setting him self up for another one year prove it deal, thankfully it won't be here.

If Rak were a former 7th round pick, we would be hoping to hold onto him at a reasonable price. I suspect that, just like D-Hall, Rak's absence will be felt beyond his immediate production.

I've always been a Rak supporter, but I've been frustrated with him ever since he said he had nothing to prove this year. And frankly he has had something to prove the entire time he has been here, and has never lived up to the 13th pick that was used on him, albeit mainly to injury. I remember watching Orakpo and our current QB playing at Texas and wishing some way some how the Redskins would draft him. Then on draft day Al Davis saw Derius Heyward Bey's 40 time and the rest is history. Unfortunately now Orakpo has torn a pec for the third time in his sixth season. I would love to have Orakpo here next year, it would be amazing. However the only way I am keeping him here is with a vet min deal with bonuses on the back end. If he wants any more than that which I'm sure he will, I'll pass.
