He doesn't want to sign for a cheap deal, just like he didn't want to get the franchise tag. IMO if he indeed tore another pec there is no chance he gets any sort of long term deal. He is setting him self up for another one year prove it deal, thankfully it won't be here.

Rak has not produced sacks as would be hoped or expected and is not elite. On the other hand, I am not "thankful" that it looks like a solid player will be moving on in the prime of his career. If it weren't for salary issues/expectations, Rak would be seen as a solid, but not spectacular, contributor to the defense.

If Rak were a former 7th round pick, we would be hoping to hold onto him at a reasonable price. I suspect that, just like D-Hall, Rak's absence will be felt beyond his immediate production.

Rak may not be elite, but I'm sure having him on the other side of Kerrigan has helped Kerrigan in his production. As you said in your previous post, not the worst decision int he world to keep him around this year. I'm fine with him walking out, since someone will likely overpay him.

I don't buy the arguement that he absence will make a huge impact on our defense. The year we lost him in 2012 in game 2 to another peck muscle tear our team went on a nice run and won the division. His loss hurt more in the short term than it did over the course of the season.

I was expecting Rak to be putting up some big numbers this year based on the addition of pass rushing specialist Coach Baker coming into the fold. We have seen his presence make an impact on Kerrigan, but Rak is still the same dude.

It will be interesting to see what they do moving forward... Rob Jackson is still unsigned. And I hate to say it but Rob would have made the play last week in the ARI game

I guess we won't know until he's out. I mean, some people don't think much of D. Hall and we're hurting bad in passing defense now that he's out.

I would agrue that Hall is more important to the defense than Rak was.

I've always been a Rak supporter, but I've been frustrated with him ever since he said he had nothing to prove this year. And frankly he has had something to prove the entire time he has been here, and has never lived up to the 13th pick that was used on him, albeit mainly to injury.

I remember watching Orakpo and our current QB playing at Texas and wishing some way some how the Redskins would draft him. Then on draft day Al Davis saw Derius Heyward Bey's 40 time and the rest is history. Unfortunately now Orakpo has torn a pec for the third time in his sixth season.

I would love to have Orakpo here next year, it would be amazing. However the only way I am keeping him here is with a vet min deal with bonuses on the back end. If he wants any more than that which I'm sure he will, I'll pass.
