Re: Titans vs. Skins Positives and Negatives.

Big positive was Gruden making moves with players who obviously weren't getting it done.

negative is that Gruden in his press conference said they didn't plan or talk about the possibility of having to pull Kirk during the week. He said he spent the time trying to make it work for Kirk. Ok, I get that the first week. The second week, you have to be thinking about options. One of the few coaching comments I haven't liked from him.

Positive, even after the defense gave up the go ahead touchdown the team didn't give up. Also the defense played well for many parts of the game, I think they got several 3 and outs, but not positive.

Positive, Amerson/Breeland could be a good tandem for the Skins for a while. Maybe not the shutdown ala Revis, but CB's you can build the defensive backfield around.

I don't have an issue with Gruden staying upbeat and positive with a player through the week. Especially with Kirk's realistic attitude about his performance. Coaches know their players better than we do. Kirk is hard on himself and might need coaches to show confidence in him.

A great example is we are all calling for Moses but obviously the coaches believe Compton is better. That's why we saw him come in for Polumbus.

Colt was a huge unknown to us and a pleasant surprise. I'm guessing there was a reason he started the season as the 3rd string qb rather than the 2nd.

All that being said, I loved his decision making today and the smart way he rushed on a broken play.

What I meant is that coaches have to plan for all occasions, if he's not wanting to think about KC having picks, then that's not good. You can still be upbeat, and try to make the situation the best for him, but the OC and HC ought to be having a plan B discussion, and it doesn't sound like that happened.

I can tell you he's lying. Colt was told Saturday to be ready because he was coming in if Kirk struggled again and the game was close

That makes me like Gruden even more, not necessarily the "lie" but that he's looking at every option and gave McCoy the chance.

Maybe McCoy should start until RG is 100% healthy and confident. What do you think?

Rich Gannon was at practice and he said Kirk looked bad, he's lost his confidence. Colt looked good during the same practice.

In regards to Colt's performance.

Good start and finish for Redskins’ McCoy but issues in between | Rich Tandler's Real Redskins

People still believe coaches in press conferences? They are probably lying 50% of the time.

Re: Titans vs. Skins Positives and Negatives.

So is Colt automatically starting against the Cowboys are will this be one of those wait and see how both he and Kirk practice? If Kirk was struggling in practice last week, I'm sure he'd struggle in practice this week.

I sure hope not. Colt delivered the win, so all his short-comings are over-looked by the fans. I'm not sold on the idea that he's really a better option than Cousins. If Gruden starts Colt, fine. But he shouldn't be handed the job automatically just based off the Tennessee game.

Some quotes from Tandler's latest article:

Quote:
If you give McCoy five yards on that completion instead of 70, he has only 63 yards passing and his yards per attempt from an impressive 10.7 to a substandard 5.3. Add in the eight yards he lost to sacks and it comes to a net yards per attempt of 3.9
Quote:
In between the TD pass to Garçon and the final drive, a span of about 24 minutes, McCoy completed five of six passes for a net of 10 yards and was sacked twice for a loss of eight.

So true. I would prefer that he goes back to KC simply because he hits big plays every game. However, he would be on a short leash.

Well in fairness, the plays called were all short and quick passes, not much downfield action for McCoy to complete longer passes. You would think Gruden will open up the playbook more for him after a week of practicing with the starters.
