When you have the track record he does as a defensive coordinator it becomes easy to see why he keeps getting hired. Not everything has to be overly complicated or "outside the box" to be the right decision. Some things really are obvious, and that's because his resume is that clearly head and shoulders above the others.

Phillips is a retread. Not saying it would be a bad hire, but it would be nice to see them bring in a young up and comer.

3 of the 4 head coaches in the conference championships last year where retreads. I think the young up and comer can be overrated if you don't have the talent or the FO and coaching staff to assist them.

We have a (supposedly) young, up-and-coming HC. No problem then with having an experienced coordinator.
