I really don't think the drinking will be an issue anymore. Sounds like he's cleaned that part of his life up. He's a grown man and if he wants to have a beer then so be it. Just keep it under control.

Maybe that is why the local ABC store is all out of Vodka ? I too hope has can control his drinking .... for his quality of life . As far as his job here , he can drink Vodka , JD and Rum every day if he does his job like he did in Seattle and SF .

People with an alcohol/drug problem have it. They don't want to, but they do. The trouble does not go away because the individual changes "poison". He could be one of the rare few that can manage that. Completely erasing alcohol from the affected persons life is a shockingly difficult thing to face, and the downfall of many. He may however be one of the very rare types that can moderate.
On the bright side, there are millions of fully functional and productive drunks and junkies in this country at any given moment. Many will finally figure it out and go clean, restoring them to a full life without the other incumbent problems.
If you are in a meeting at work with 10 people, on average 2 are drunks/junkies. The fun part is figuring out who they are.
Make NO mistake, I am totally behind this deal and very excited at the prospect!!
As has been said, there may be hope for us yet! HTTR....

Is that why everyone in the room is always staring at me?
Well, that and my Jack Daniels aftershave.

Seems like a great move but I'll grade it in a couple of years. Been a fan since 86 and this has been one of the more demoralizing years to watch. Cancelling the NFL package.

I had the NFL package when it was born up till 2010 when I moved East. I thought they were giving it away or at a steep discount now.

Come on - really? Alcoholism is a lifetime problem, always with relapses.

There is near certainty this will be a problem again.

Personally I think an alcoholic really cannot continue to drink beer or any alcohol, it's heading to disaster. Is there anything wrong with drinking beer? Not for you or me perhaps, but for an alcoholic it's just disaster. The real question is only when he will relapse, how will he deal with it, and who his support circle will be to help him with it. If he develops a good friend/support circle, he can get through his relapses without losing his career / his life. And not to mention developing cirrhosis by 50 years old. Mark my words, if his eyes start to turn yellow and his belly gets real big - his liver is failing.

Anyway, I still love the move, well worth the risks. Would be nice to still have AJ Smith as backup if McCloughan can't keep it together over the next few years.
