Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy

I actually really like this move because it seems to have a stamp of McC. If its true that Bruce and Jay both were in love with such a disappointing player such Colt, we finally have a guy who stands up and says "guys, what the fuck are you doing? Cut/get rid of someone who will never help us win"...

Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy

The fact that Colt McCoy was even a part of any relevant conversation surrounding this team says a whole lot about the state of the position.

There are probably 15 Colt McCoys out there that we can get to come into camp and take snaps. No biggie.

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

McCoy is a guy who can play decent against a team that hasn't prepared for him
if it is known for a week or more he is starting he reverts back to a guy who struggles to throw for 150 yards against a bad defense.

We need a long term answer at the most important position on the team.
It is my sincerest.....Hope that, that person is currently on the team

McCoy's release IMO signals the correct decision we will be hoping to draft a young QB. Even if it is late in the draft. We need a young developmental QB, rather than stick with the veteran McCoy who is limited. Roll the dice with a young QB! We need new blood.

Yup. We could use a young arm to groom.

Now that Colt isn't coming back, they're going to draft someone. Especially with KC and RG3 in the 4th year of their rookie deals. I've read that they like a Sean Mannion from Oregon State.

IMO he could be a good mid-round pickup. He has a lot of starting experience in a pro style offense.

Colt McCoy's stats last season, per nfl.com. Griffin's stats in parentheses:

Year 2014
Team Washington Redskins
G 5 (9)
Att 128 (214)
Comp 91 (147)
Pct 71.1 (68.7)
Att/G 25.6 (23.8)
Yds 1,057 (1694)
Avg 8.3 (7.9)
Yds/G TD 211.4 (188.2)
TD 4 (4)
Int 3 (6)
Sck 17 (33)
QBRate 96.4 (86.9)

I think saying Colt McCoy "failed" is too strong a word, unless you are ready to give up on Griffin.

According to John Clayton they are also interested in Mariota.

Oh dear, that would make quite the circus event if that happened.

I'd like to reserve a front row seat, please.

Man, I love this off-season intrigue! Chip Kelly's antics and now this? Good stuff. I can hardly wait to see the next act.

Why did we keep one "failure" over another? I hope we kept Griffin over McCoy because the coaches see more promise in him, and not because of ownership. But past history is not encouraging.
