Re: Robert Griffin III ready to turn career around with Redskins in 2015

Anonymous coach says RGIII ‘is done’ in ESPN QB poll - The Washington Post

“Five, and there’s no coming back,” one offensive coach said of Griffin. “He is done. The reason why is, the injury slowed his legs, and his ego will not allow him to hit rock bottom and actually grind his way back up the right way.”

Another respondent suggested Griffin is delusional and lacks humility.

“Griffin sees himself like Peyton [Manning], in that light,” a personnel director said. “When he looks in the mirror, he is seeing things that everybody else is not seeing. That is why I was surprised when they gave him the fifth-year [option] and said it was an easy decision.”

kinda how i see it. RG3 needs to accept coaching and instructions. all those stories you heard of how defiant he is, even in practice is just mind boggling.

only in DC ..... who knows, maybe RG3 will be more open minded this season and gruden can figure out an offense to mask his weaknesses .. like knowing protections and play calls and assignments and 101 stuff.

I agree. I'm not as optimistic because of what I mentioned below. I hope that I'm 100% wrong though but it's not how I see it playing out.

These guys are spot on in my opinion. RGIII's biggest downfall is his ego. He lacks the humility to become the talented force he could be. It's such a shame to see talent be ruined by ego. It happens all too often in the sport though.

This is a prime example. The latest interview with Larry, RGIII tries to squash the notion he can't read NFL defenses based on the 2012 season.

Quote:
“So we’ve got to get away from this reading defenses stuff, man,” Griffin concluded. “If you can’t read defenses, you can’t play in the NFL. So obviously 2012 proved that we can do that, and I can do that.
This is purely ego driven because he would know that was a zone read sort of offense that spurred that season on. You know, the kind of offense that has a one read and go. That's not reading a NFL defense from a QB standpoint. To think so is laughable. I simply don't see Robert making that next step because I don't think his ego will allow him to do it. It's hard to tell an individual something who already thinks he's got it all covered. Mike tried too and so has Jay Gruden.

i agree NC. i couldnt find that interview but did find one w our new QB coach Cavanaugh. He comments on the basics of QB play ..

“Trusting the route, trusting the protection, trusting your footwork,” Cavanaugh said. “I mean, it’s that simple. We always say that you throw with your feet to stay in rhythm. So if you say that I took the proper drop, I took one hitch and No. 1 wasn’t open, I’ve got to get off him. I can’t wait. I can’t wait thinking he might come open if I just hold onto the ball a little bit longer, because then you’re going to be late going to No. 2 and No. 3. And that’s typically a progression read. But your feet’ll tell you if No. 1’s open.”

Larry Michael won’t ask Matt Cavanaugh questions about RGIII - The Washington Post

its a good read, kinda funny the writer called out homer larry michael as well. its his job, i get it, i dont hate larry for it, i almost admirer his ability to keep a straight face while trying to appear objective
