BUT - one of the things that I did consider was if Dan Snyder was so angry over the RG3 situation that he really did decide to coach the team himself. I have often wondered why Dan hasn't done that, he has tried everything else.

Is it at least safe to assume that either Gruden or SM is on borrowed time over the RG3 situation??
I think the part of your equation that you are missing is the public perception. Dan very much cares about public perception of himself. Even though he stays out of the public eye, the times he chooses to talk to the media he tries to present a carefully crafted image of himself. He's even hired people (Tony Wyllie if memory serves) to rehab the image of himself and his team. If he actually went through with the "owner, gm, coach" scenario that would destroy any image rehab he has done the past few years. Firing a gm he literally just hired months ago? That would be insane, and make him look insanely foolish. The public perception of him is "worst NFL owner." He obviously doesn't want to keep that label, and he would be in the running for "worst NFL owner of all time" if he actually tried being a GM and/or the coach. Not trying to rag on you too hard bro, but I gotta call it like I see it.

Now back to reality... Hard to imagine anyone trading for him at this point with his guaranteed $$ for this year and the injury guarantee for next. And of course they can't release him until he's cleared to play so that's not until the end of this week at the earliest. At this point I just don't see how they can kiss and make up. He's gotta go. Snyder might not like it but it the end he will concede.
Pretty much sums it up. Tough pill for Snyder to swallow though. I just think that if Gruden is going to go down with this ship, then he at least should be able to play the qb he wants to.

If Cousins or McCoy is starting QB, Gruden will feel immense pressure to perform.

You know, It's just starting to hit me just how bad I miss Jack Kent Cooke. His death has followed me for almost 20 years.. Dan, if you read this, please listen carefully.. let the football people run the team. At this point, that's 80% Scot and 20% Bruce Allen. You are killing everything I loved as a child and living for the day you sell this team is one of the things I look forward to most in my life.

Thanks Hog1. I've actually been following this forum for years..

Being a Redskins fan is becoming painful. Not because of the losing, I can handle that, but because of the way we lose. I can't help but look back at the firing of Marty Schottenheimer and think that's where the wheels started coming off the wagon.. Get rid of RG3. Even if he's a decent QB, which he's not, he's such a distraction that the team can't focus on the task at hand. I like Scot and what he brings to this organization. I just hope that he gets the chance to get it done here and without Dan Snyder micromanaging him.

We are the can't get right franchise.

We can't do anything the right way.

I hope the reports are off base because from a football perspective it seems rash to say the least.

But if the reports are true why can't they keep anything in house?

It has mostly been a tough road since the passing of JKC. I truly believe we are onto something good with SM.....like what he is doing.
I hate it, but Robert gives no indication that he can get this done and appears to be a....distraction

National reporters offer conflicting information on Washington’s quarterback situation

You can't take these clowns seriously.

I'm with Matty here. Too much is done to move on, and Robert's ego and unwillingness to trust/learn is a huge obstacle. Time to move on. I say you cut him the first chance you can get. Let him have his fresh start, and let us rid ourselves of the future drama surrounding him if he's on this team during the 2015 season.

At this point, keeping RG3 around isn't doing him any good either. Sometimes the best thing is to part ways and get a fresh start.

Well F.. Me Runnin'!!...Shit Shit Shit!!!

OK give me tonight to get my head around this and we'll revisit in the morning"

I can believe that.

Play him or your both fired even though he sucks....I don't think so

Nobody damn near killed him 6-8 times. He damn near killed himself. Its nobodys fault the guy couldnt slide, get out of bounds, run away from pressure instead of into it, or step up in the pocket. Just sayin.....
As for all this hoopla about his status on this team, well, obviously DS wants him to work. He isnt. I think ultimately DS wants to win though - that is the main thing. Just like alot of people on this board that are jumping off the Griff train before it derails another season so is DS i presume. Up until now DS and plenty of us fans were hoping that he would regain his confidence, health, and wits all at once. I think this preseason was finally the breaking point for all those including DS that were hanging on to some semblance of hope.
