Field Goal Rule???

it is actually genius to kick on 2nd down in that case. if there is a bad snap it stands to reason you'll end up with ball on like the 40 or 45 making it a real long field goal. if you have tried it on 2nd rather than third (like many coaches for the reason TAFKAS pointed out) then you still have 3rd to make some yards back and make it a reasonable kick. in fact when they got the delay i wondered for a second if they would run a play to move the ball up maybe.
