Desean jax back would be a huge lift to the offense. I'm not sold on the Falcons defense. Matt jones need some more reps. We need to get these big play guys in the game plan. While garçon, grant and Alfmo are our steady, keep the chains moving guys...but d jax and Matt jones have the break away threat that keep opposing d coordinators on their toes. |

In the first big upset of the season, the Washington Redskins outlast the Atlanta Falcons 28-20

I will be there Sunday and I am looking for a ball control run all over them type of game. Two of the biggest players this weekend will be Chris Thompson for us (they are weak in covering passes in the backfield) and Devonta Freeman for them he has been tearing it up and is much more important to them than he gets credit for. I do think we can stop the run up the middle and our linebackers are fast Especially Robinson and can contain the screen game, I wouldn't say the same about them. |

Re: Falcons Pregame
I'm not the least bit concerned about the Falcons running game. I know they've been good at running the ball this season but I think we can put a stop to that.
I think the people who can beat us are the elite players on other teams. We seem to have the rest under control. On the Falcons, those players are Ryan and Jones. Jones must be doubled and denied the ball. Let Hankerson or some other overrated Atlanta player have the opportunity to drop a pass or fumble at a key point in the game. As for Ryan, this may be the week to spring some exotic blitzes to push back the Falcons offense or get a turnover. As for our offense, we just need to keep doing what we're doing but do it even better. Fewer penalties and no turnovers would make a significant difference for us.

Re: Falcons Pregame
Reed, Culliver, DJax, and Hall out. Can't see us winning this. Could see us getting blown out. Atlanta 38, Skins 16. Makes me sad to write that.

I wish they still had Amerson right about now.

Re: Falcons Pregame
Not me. Play what we got, see what we got. We knew what we had in Amerson and it wasn't good. If someone (Q. Dunbar, I am looking at you!) steps up and performs, fantastic. If not, oh well, at least we'll see if they have some potential for development.
Bottom line, it is highly unlikely that Amerson would be the difference between winning and losing Sunday. If Culliver sits out and the eventual starter gives up 3 TD's as opposed to the 2 TD's Amerson would have given up ... maybe.

John Keim
ESPN Staff Writer Redskins coach Jay Gruden said four starters will not play Sunday: tight end Jordan Reed (concussion), receiver DeSean Jackson (hamstring), corner Chris Culliver (knee) and corner DeAngelo Hall (toe).

Re: Falcons Pregame
Sorry, just saw that Culliver definitely out. Doesn't change my opinion.
Likely that Blackmon and Breeland start at corners and Jarret the slot corner with Dunbar coming in when they go four wide. Again, I would take Blackmon over Amerson. Mostly b/c I know Amerson sucks and suspect Blackmon sucks less. I could be wrong but I doubt it. Amerson really, really sucked.

Re: Falcons Pregame
I just looked up the Falcons vs. Eagles game, since we just came off of the win against the Eagles. I predict the game on sunday will be very similar to Eagles vs. Falcons, but the Skins will rush a lot more often and try to control the clock:

Lol, im not saying Amerson is the difference between winning and losing.
Our current CB depth is nil; Amerson would help. |

At this stage of our team build, I say keep running players through the system until we can find players who can do the job. Once you know a player can't do it, as in the case of Amerson, cut him and try the next guy. You may need to open a lot of oysters before you find a pearl.

Re: Falcons Pregame
Culliver out is a huge blow.
I wouldnt be surprised if Amerson was cut bc he was missing assignments and responsibilities. pure speculation on my part but id take 11 guys on the same page. His cut was unexpected, that leads me to believe something happened behind closed doors. did he miss another meeting like last year? not study enough? perhaps a Jeron Johnson sighting, letting him be the 4th corner? i know he is a safety but i thought he was kinda hybrid. is he out of the dog house yet? is he even on the active roster? I thought he would be contributing a lot more. --------------------------------- I was curious on how Amerson was doing ..sigh "Fast forward one week and the North Carolina State-product has now found himself engrained in the Raiders cornerback rotation, playing every defensive snap except two against Chicago and finishing the day with 7 total tackles, 1 very impressive pass defensed and 1 forced fumble." David Amerson Earning A Role In Raiders Secondary --------------------------------- checked out jeron johnsons twitter for any hints .. none except he thanks the lord every day for a new day, seems to be friends w darryl young and loves his Boise State Broncos.
