This game was lost on the first half when we only put up 7 points, while our D was playing well and limited the Falcons to 3 pts and had two takeaways.

Yet I see it a bit as a moral victory. The old Redskins would have fallen apart and embarrassed themselves.

We played them tough, and the offense really struggled most of the game. I think the pick is more on Grant, but I question the decision to throw to him in that spot. They definately were missing Jordan Reed out there. The defensive line struggled at times today also, too much getting out of position and breaking containment.

Don't know why people are looking for scapegoats, our team played a helluva ball game and we should all be proud of them.

If Grant didn't slip, I can still see that ball being intercepted, perhaps off of Grant's fingertips. If Grant was supposed to break to the sideline, the throw would have been perfect. Again, it may have been Grant's route running or it may have been a poorly thrown ball. The replay isn't clear enough.

Regardless, I don't really give a shit. This game, while painful to lose, was a major step forward for this football team. Couldn't get the ground game going, QB was off on his throws, a number of bounces went against us, it was on the road against an undefeated team, and we took the game into OT. A few more games like this and I might not be so ashamed about being a Redskins fan.
I guess I'm just thinking Grant was going/supposed to plant and comeback a step or two while floating towards the sideline. Agree on the second half.

This loss in Kirk..not because of the pick 6 but because he just wasn't accurate today. Blaming him though isn't meant in a scapegoat way. He played pretty well but just was off. It happens. The team fought and gave itself a chance. I'm not hysterical about this. More stuff for the team and Cousins to grow on.

That is what I thought. It seemed everyone was running curl routes (including the inside receiver) but Kirk threw it to the outside which surprised Grant.

I would like to hear the play call as well.

Re: Redskins v. Falcons Gameday Thread

Kirk had one of those weird up and down performances today. He made some big clutch throws, but then was also pretty inaccurate in sports on throws where we had WR's wide open. When I try to make sense of Kirk I think the biggest question I have is "How long into his development is he?"

His issue doesn't seem to be lack of knowledge of the offense, as he is usually making the correct reads, but his delivery of the ball was just not there today. Throwing high, throwing behind.

Also, what happened to this team's running game? How did our O-line seemingly go from a run blocking beast but bad in pass protection to the exact opposite? Are defenses stacking the box because they don't fear the passing attack?

The defense? Hard to be upset at all with them despite giving up that drive in the 4th quarter. They held this game in check for well long enough that gave the offense a chance to do something, anything to extend their lead.

What it looked like to me was that Grant falling down and Kirk's throw were not 100% related to why the INT happened.

It looked like Kirk rushed a throw because he felt pressure. This is one flaw in Cousins's game that we saw more last season, and a little bit this season. He feels pressure and looks to avoid the sack so he will hurry a throw before a target is out of their break, which leaves the ball in no man's land or in this case, in the defender's hands unfortunately.

If Grant does not fall down, I am still not convinced it is a catch. Maybe he gets a hand on it and it goes incomplete, maybe there is no INT, or at least no return yards on the INT, but that ball was throw way wide.
