Agreed. It's funny; this is an organization that in a little more than the past decade has done irreparable damage to the reputations of two hall of fame coaches and one borderline hall of fame coach, yet there continues to be this perception that the organization's failure to win is the sole responsibility of whoever is the head coach. I have faith that SM and Gruden can get us on the right track. And if Gruden can't? Well, every time we run a head coach out of town, the job is that much less desirable to the stronger candidates out there.

I would like to note - Gruden has managed to keep the locker room through a bad last year and a goofy offseason. I think this is the strongest TEAM coached by anyone not named Gibbs or Marty. He is holding players accountable, and coaches as well. That is more important to me as we rebuild, not wins just yet.

Under SM, we have turned the corner on that type of thing. This team is not the type of team we have seen in the past 20 years......
If Gruden cannot get it done......you will see a desirable coaching situation emerge.

But as I said Hog - only a handful of these players are SM guys. Gruden has alot of these same players that were here in our past regime playing harder. So again the corner has been turned under both of their watches and i would add that the HC is the one getting these guys in the rite mindset every day.

The players might be playing hard for SM. They know his style and no none sense approach. He is the one running things, as for Gruden let see he the team comes out this week! Y'all act like Atl was in the NFC championship game last year! This team has a rookie head coach who has his team playing hard. You ready to bet money on them making to the Super Bowl. Wasn't you one of them giving Gruden credit after week 1 lost to the playoff bound Dolphins?

You need to relax and give the man alittle time. For your own sanity and ours.

Re: Redskins v. Falcons Gameday Thread

SM has said that the roster, in terms of who plays, should be the coach's call. In that sense he has given Gruden the ability to hold players accountable, and I think he didn't have that last year, hamstrung with the QB debacle. At this point, everyone should know that Gruden has SM's backing, and likewise Gruden knows it's his neck on the line. I think we are seeing positive steps with this staff, but honestly, we still have 11 games and it could go south if we lose the next 2.

I don't know that the Jets is a must win game, but a loss this week, and the Tampa Bay game takes on a look like the 2014 season. We were 2-3 this time last year, having just lost to Seattle. We had the Cardinals and the Titans and lost to both. That's when the season was lost.

Let's see these next two weeks. imo, We need to be at least 1-1, and maybe 2-0 in order to really know we are moving in the right direction.

Re: Redskins v. Falcons Gameday Thread

I'm REALLY concerned the Jets will run against us like the Falcons did. Jets have a better offensive line. Good news is that their QB situation is a mess and they don't have the firepower at the WR position that Atlanta did. Hopefully this means we can stuff the box and prevent Ivory from getting going.

good overlooked point. I think he has handled alot of things much better this year...last year he said some really dumb things and the result was the locker room wasnt a great place. He's learned in that aspect.

X and Os, he's decent. game plan is all right. I think McC def advised Gruden on a vision of what the team should look like and how to win. Gruden still has strides to make. Like Keim said, you can be a running team and not run it everytime on first down.

Im for keeping Gruden around if we continue to see progress. I think Gruden and McC need to really come up with a QB plan...its obvious Cousins isnt the guy.

Fitzpatrick is decent enough and they have a couple of big physical WRs in Decker and Marshall. It's going to be a battle if we can't shut down Ivory.
