With the way things are going, I doubt he'll ever see that money either way.

Makes a big difference in terms of the salary cap hit.

From the Washington Post article:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...100401283.html

"...and is scheduled to receive a $6.5 million roster bonus July 15".

Here's another great article about Arrington and the cap implications:
http://redskins.scout.com/2/448145.html

This paragraph makes me think that the roster bonus is actually due on or before June 1st:

"The second option involves the Redskins striking an agreement with Arrington to push back his roster bonus until after June 1 next year in exchange for agreeing to release him on June 1 - thus spreading the accelerated cap hit over two years ($5.096 million in 2006, $7.449 million in 2007)."

Basically he's saying that because Arrington's roster bonus is due before June 1st, the Skins wouldn't be able to cut him after June 1st to spread the deadcap hit to future years.
