Read that article and somewhat agree... the draft will tell a lot

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
I think this time period before the draft is where the skins will be hurt the most in free agency. There are some quality player depth players available on the market. Zach Brown, John Sullivan, Chris Long, Glenn Dorsey would all be some good depth vets to sign on vet min contracts. Hankins needs to come off his price.

Sure he would. There is plenty of interest in Brown. Oakland - visit... Miami and Indy too... probably more teams

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
No, not depth players but starters. We needed four starters minimum in FA and to re-sign some of our own. We got two of the four we needed - Pryor and Swearinger. We did not get the NT we need and we did not get the upgrade at ILB we need.
The money was there to be had if we had cut a couple more over-the-hill players and, of course, signed Kirk long-term so we could manipulate his cap number. But, naturally, we f***ed that up big time. What we needed most was defensive help up the middle. I believe that we could have signed Bennie Logan and Zach Brown to go with Swearingen if we had had gone hard after them from the beginning. Unlike others, I think Bennie Logan would have been worth the deal he got to us. We needed someone like Pryor to replace one of the two WR's we lost. The other one will be replaced internally. Then we would have been freed up to draft the true BPA throughout the draft.

We can get two starters out of the draft. We may have one in Spaight. Plus Daniels is also coming back off injury. I would not sign Brown.

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
No thank you to Spaight and Daniels. They are slow defenders who can't cover. We need speed at LB.

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
For what reasons? Do you think he'd be too expensive or do you not like his level of play? Others?

Who in the fuck is running the draft? Bruce doesn't watch tape and we have no gm. Jay is a head coach.. that means, he should not be running it. Scott Campbell is my hope, but who really knows at this point. I hope McC's ability to scout talent rubbed off on Campbell. From what I've seen in free agency, we still got a lot of work to do. Pass rusher, dline, corner, ilb...we must add additional bodies there. On Offense: WR, RB and interior online are all must adds. Long way to go...adding a gm might be a good idea. Probably need to get on that soon, especially since the move to Fire McC has been in the works since before the combine. Probably should have had a plan to replace him. Looks like that's too much to ask.

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
When you have 10 draft picks the amount of players you sign in free agency is going to be reduced. Ideally, everyone you draft actually makes the team, or at minimum the practice squad. I don't really think we need to sign anyone else. We might, but it's not a necessity. I'm going to be optimistic about this draft and getting Docton back. We have a good draft we're better than we were last year when we missed playoffs by 1 game.

It's his board, with Jay and Doug interviewing the players at the combine to assess heart/character. If that's how the board is set, what does it matter who runs the draft room?

I doubt Scot's draft board was done when he left. There were plenty of Pro Days after the combine too. |

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
No. That's exactly what all reports said. He had the draft board built. It surely would have been tweaked following the combine. But it is definitely not just a free agent board.
