Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
My big question is.....when are we going to address the D Line.....a very mediocre D Line from last year has gotten worse....McGee and McClain aren't gonna fill holes

Marshall looked like he was scared to hit the hole hard in pre season, and just wanted to break everything outside. I was not impressed with him at all. |

But, Ricky Jean is gone, Trent Murphy is suspended and is better at OLB, and we missed out on Bennie Logan. Folks, that's a massive hole. We need to draft a DL 1 or 2nd round. No question about it.

He's still young (will be 24) and at 6'6", 280 he ran a 4.7 sec 40. He got some playing time last year, before going on IR, so I'm sure he's been able to slow things down in his mind now and will be even better next year. Maybe not a starter, but definitely should help as much or more as any 8-10 yr old re-tread. I'd also put him ahead of most rookie DE's, so I wouldn't waste #17 on a highly rated DE, especially if they're light in the ass (under 260 lbs). I really don't think we'll be that bad at DE as others do. It isn't all about sacks. Our D-line first and foremost needs to Stop the Run. Our OLB's are good, especially if we get Gallete back and/or Preston steps up, along with Kerrigan, we should generate enough pass rush to contend. |

It's really hard to plan to address a specific position in the draft, I'd prefer trying to fix in FA as much as possible first. For example, even if we want to draft DL, if great talent drops to us -- ie. if a top RB (Cook) or top LB (Foster) --- we may skip DL for a few rounds, and be stuck again picking up scraps for DL. Somewhat like Leonard Williams, I'm sorry no matter what anyone says, getting a probowl OG is NOT the same thing as a top tier DT, shoudn't have passed it up and may have been a need pick at the time. |

In our offense, with our line, the other targets around him, and with Cousins at the helm, Quick can be the exact same player as last year and his % caught will go up dramatically. My thing is that the only way Quick does much of anything for us is if Doctson isn't healthy. And that would be bad news overall. Still, another big body. I can see Quick being an asset in the red zone if we spread out 4 or 5 wide. That is an obvious focus this offseason.

With Terrelle Pryor and Brian Quick, Washington Redskins add size - Washington Redskins Blog- ESPN
Not a terrible group, but really hinges on the development of Doctson. If he can get on and stay on the field then I don't think we lose a lot from the Garcon/Jackson.

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
Remember, Quick played with some terrible quarterbacks with the Rams, so having Cousins throwing the ball to him should really make Quick look a lot better. I think the Redskins signed him to push Josh Doctson. Love that the Redskins have size at wide receiver. Who knows? They may wind up drafting another receiver as well.
