I think the real downfall for espn is simply that I do not really need to tune into sports center anymore to find out what is going on. My phone blows up every time an athlete as much as passes gas. Satellite radio, Twitter, etc etc. When I was young I used to looooove the George Michael Sports Machine. Than Sports Center was like Disneyland for sports. Now it is just old news by the time u tune in. Oh well. Video killed the radio star and now technology killed video.

You are right, there are some really good sports writers, but they are in their 50s and write for newspapers. NFL.com writers are morons. ESPN writers are a bit better, but it is a joke the NFL guys get paid for their crap. They lack basic research skills and get called out often by commenters, then edit the story accordingly.
