I don't, maybe I am wrong but in order to detain someone don't you need reasonable articulate suspicion that they have commited, about to commit, or are in the process of commiting a crime?

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

Yeah but I kinda see the cops point, when they are just arriving on scene, everything is mass chaos and people are bailing left and right, it makes sense to tell everyone to hit the deck so you can sort it out one by one later. If one guy ignores the command while everyone else complies, of course you're gonna keep that guy on scene until he can be cleared later. But they don't have time to clear him while the shooter might still be on the scene, so he gets detained until later.

Sucks for Bennett because he was obviously freaked out, but you ignore police commands in an already chaotic situation where they are trying to sort it out, well that's what happens. As soon as they confirmed he was clear they released him. Did the one cop have to put his gun to his head? Maybe not, but again, active shooter. Of course they're going in guns ready. I think detaining the crowd at an active shooter situation is standard protocol anywhere, you have to clear them to make sure the gunman/men doesn't try to sneak out.

I understand that but why is it in these situations the body cam is always off? And if you already have the guy detained why then say you will blow his brains out if he moves?

That's my big problem...the body cam has been extremely effective when in use. The fact he had it off is a situation where he should be disciplined.

Bennett is highly emotional person who wants to be a flag bearer...I personally don't think anything the cop would have done would have been good enough for him. I would not put it past him to antagonize the police in this situation.

Context matters, this was an active shooter situation? This situation would have been highly charged for both the police and the patrons. This is the statement by the police: "As they moved toward the nightclub, an individual later identified as Bennett was seen crouched down behind a gaming machine as the officers approached," McMahill sald. "Once Bennett was in the officer's view, he quickly ran out the south doors, jumped over a wall onto Flamingo Road East of Las Vegas Boulevard into traffic." Ok if this is the case in an active shooter situation this is extremely suspicious, is it not? Why would he do this, is he simply retarded or high?

When I was twenty I was pulled out of a car with 2 others and was threatened 3 or 4 times that I would be shot if I attempted to run. It was extremely aggressive threat which gun was drawn based most likely on my appearance and the 2'others I was with were never threatened at all. It's simply never bothered me and had a great night.

Well the body cam issue is clear to me, he probably kept it off intentionally so there wouldn't be footage if he did something questionable. Definitely should face discipline on that one.
